Stylish, yet waterproof, does it exist?

I am on my quest for a new winter coat/mac. I do the school run now both ends of the day and after recent downpours while stood in the playground, I would like to dress up my drowned rat look.

When I think of nice but practical coats I think Boden (ok ok, don't shoot me down!), but does anything else exist?

It has to be waterproof, not just shower resistant, warm would be good too, and suit a short mother of 3 whose not quite ready to hit middle age yet!

Any top tips greatly appreciated!

i hear the merrel wakefield coat is the MN waterproof of choice. haven't seen one other that online though yet.

just Googled (ha, do you see what I did there??) and wow, lovely coat, but not sure DH will be happy with price tag! I have just spent £255 on new glasses (I have milk bottle bottom lenses, which need thinning to fit into any frames, so this buy one get one free lark is a con for us blind folk!), so the purse strings have been pulled shut!

Could stick it on my xmas list though eh!

Craghopper haddenbury - £60 online but it's great, mine arrived today - slightly long on me (i'm 5ft) but i like that as I'm sick of getting drenched. Totally waterproof, kept me snug and dry in the pouring rain this afternoon

I bought the merrell haven last year, I am 5 ft, it is very warm and amazingly waterproof ,and tbh I know for a fact that on a day like to day (driving rain, wild and horrible) I didn't notice anything anyone was wearing on my walk to/from school!

The merrell is a little dull, but I am willing to sacrifice style for warmth and being dry, because the school walk I have to do would be very miserable otherwise.
