Winter is coming. What do little boys wear under their trousers? Base leggins?

My little boy (reception year) is sometimes moaning that he wants to wear his warm trousers (joggers) instead of the school uniform. I do not want other kids to make fun out of him if he starts wearing base leggins (however, may be they will not). Or shall I just buy knee high socks?
These are the leggins like I want. Wonder if M&S sells them [http://www.muddypuddles.com/Ski/Fleece-layers/Junior-Base-Layer-Leggings-2]

DS1 has worn shorts to school for the last three years - even in the snow. His choice! He is in Yr6.

hellymelly · 14/11/2010 23:36

Petit Bateau do long johns in wool/cotton with the cotton side next to the skin. They are soft and warm without overheating or being itchy.

Colourworld · 15/11/2010 09:11

TheNextMrsDepp, your don is an exception. I would not wear shorts in this weather myself. I have to be careful because of the chilblains which I get if do not keep my feet warm.

I wil have a look at those bodysuits. Thank you for the help. Petit Bateau is a bit too pricy for me but must say they sel lots of very nice things.

like this?

I have turned our heating down and i have him wearing long johns & top & beddy suit like this thouh they only do up to 2-3 in that...

and a winter-tog grobag for good measure (which was from Tchibo originally...)

the long johns work realy nicely under trousers too, as boys trousers are so thin material wise (he also wears his sisters cords, which are nice and toasty.)

MollieO · 15/11/2010 13:04

Ds wears tracksuit bottoms over his shorts. Means they can take them off for class and put them on again for breaks. Seems to work well.

Colourworld · 15/11/2010 13:50

I think I will just buy those from Jojomaman and that it. It might be indeed really hot in the classroom and why sweat. As for the sleepsuits I have to look at all your links. I might visit M&S this week and see what see the johns. I like Asda clothes, cheap but very good. Nothing online, may be in store.

Boys' trousers are indeed thin but some boys wear shorts in winter, so I should shut up. Grin I myself prefer wearing cords to jeans, feels much warmer.

i don't find boys trousers especially thin? they can wear cords, or moleskin trouers in winter which is warmer, and many trousers you an get lined in winter, asda and next often do lined versions as do sainsburys?

Colourworld · 15/11/2010 17:09

nicolamumof3, are there lined trousers suitable for school? That would be good.

OP posts:
nicolamumof3 · 15/11/2010 17:58

no i haven't seen lined school trousers.

Colourworld · 16/11/2010 13:27

Ahhh, I need size 5-6 for Jojomamanbebe Reversible Fleece Pull-Ups and the largest ones are in size 4-5 :(

I hope to find something as nice.

oh noooo!! JoJo only go up to that age colorworld, a shame really I think they should do bigger sizes. Their sizes used to be REALLY generous, but i don't think so so much anymore.

Spotty otter are nice but tad bit more expensive!

Maxybrown, thank you so much for your help!
I like the mothercare trousers. I am going to be there tomorrow.
I have not bought anything from Jojomaman for two years already. Older DS is at school, he has a school uniform and younger DS is wearing his clothes. Jojomaman's tops and trousers are very generous but you say they are not anymore. Well, have you seen the Organix packs of biscuits and snack bars? They used to be bigger. Many products get smaller but the price remains the same.

lol, yes that is true! Grin

The lined dunagrees are easier to get hold of but maybe too much of a faff for you?

Colourworld · 20/11/2010 10:30

No trousers at Mothercare; the section for boys was kind of empty. I am sure we find something.

Both of my DSs have flu; outside is as you see - cold, so I am now trying to find nice lined trosers. I like those from the Mothercare but cannot find anything similar. Have found these ones www.muddypuddles.com/Waterproofs/Puddleflex/Puddleflex-Trousers

maxybrown · 28/11/2010 20:04

colourworld the muddy puddles trousers aren't lined though! Just so you know Smile

Colourworld · 30/11/2010 10:04

Yes, I see, so disappointing. I have to check our local TK Maxx as they sell lots of winter jackets.

OP posts:
maxybrown · 30/11/2010 10:11

yeah they are good. I am just wondering f the togz dungarees wouldn't be too much of a palava to get off?

Colourworld · 30/11/2010 13:47

No, dungarees are would be just pain for both of us. There is not that much time to change and we have to do it outside unless he will be able to do it by himself, at least in the morning. We will check the TK Maxx. They might have something warm. Thank you for your help maxybrown Wink
