Wooly tights for 15yo

Amy68 · 06/11/2010 19:47

Has anyone got ideas where I can get wooly tights for my 15yo DD who is somewhere between size 12 and 14. Ideally they will be suitable for school as well (plain black/navy/grey), but she also likes wearing skirts with casual clothes. Last year she had the largest wool tights from the M&S schoolwear range and they are now too small, and she finds black nylon quite cold when temps get down to 0 (as they are starting to).

(before anyone asks, yes she can wear trousers to school if she wants but she prefers skirts)

I just wear leggings as tights would they not do?

I bought black wooly tights for myself from Primark about 6 weeks ago,if she is a size 12-14 then she will be able to wear adult ones.
I never got to wear mine as dd 12 announced one morning 10 mins before she was due to leave for school that all her tights had holes in them so I had to let her have my new ones.

Tesco had some in last week

Falke have the best woolly tights, and they are very hard wearing so definitely worth the initial outlay. Look in a good department store.

M&S ones are great. Proper wooly ones rather than thick opaques IYSWIM.

Thanks some very useful ideas. We want tights that are not too expensive without compromising quality. They will always cost more than normal tights but M&S naturally is very expensive, remembering she'll need at least 5 pairs for each day of the school week. If the cheaper ones are not good though, M&S it will be.

As for leggings, she doesn't like the look with a school skirt though likes them with denims.

H&M childrens sizes go up to 158-164cm. They are bigger than M&S slightly and £5.99 for 2 pairs.

Love those argyle ones at Tesco.

My DD likes the John Lewis ones - they are nice and thick. Go up to age 13-15.John Lewis ones

Amy68 · 09/11/2010 18:18

I got her a pair out Primark which are not wool but 150 denier cotton. She likes them and said they were reasonably warm.

We have previously had the John Lewis ones but she found they sagged a lot a she had to keep pulling them back up. Not good.
