Has anyone been to a really (s)wanky hair salon?

Just curious really. I dream of finding a hairdresser who will tell me what to do with my hair, which is a disaster. Has anyone been to one of those 'top' London salons where they tranform your hair and make you feel fabulous? Is it really worth the money?

£75 isn't expensive at all for a cut in London. Toni and Guy were charging £55 years ago.

I pay £36 and I'm in a small town. I love my hairdresser , she knows exactly what me hair will and won't do.

Domestic - I booked with Trevor Sorbie twice years ago and twice they cancelled. Appalling service.

www.goodsalonguide.com/

I find this really useful and found my current hairdresser through it.

I go to Trevor Sorbie in Covent Garden, twice a year, and fork out for a cut with one of the directors, Ryan, and he's really good. Sorry others have had crummy experiences there. I honestly think it is worth paying for one of the more experienced staff members.

I went to John Freida years ago for a big event and it was fantastic- worth every penny. However I'm so busy/ disorganised I usually panic and get a last minute appointment anyoldwhere when I'm desperate and am never really happy with my hair as a result. I am going to let my hair grow this summer then book in for a cut in Autumn at somewhere swanky

I used to go to Trevor Sorbie whilst working/living in London. Always had brilliant cuts that would last for ages, even when I had it quite short I could always leave it for about 3 months between cuts as it grew out without losing shape/style. This was about 10-15 years ago. I have been fruitlessly searching for, and never finding, someone who can cut my hair as Jody did. Sad.
Do any of you who go to CW recommend anyone who is particularly good with fine hair, but lots of it. I think the price is reasonable for a London salon.

5 year old thread.

Lacey, Percy and Reed, one of the owners did Cheryl Coles new hairstyle.

MrsCambellBlack oops - failed to notice that one. My fruitless search will continue Sad

No, never, but I am thinking about it. I go to Rush because they frequently do 30% off colour but I've realised they don't know how to cut hair at all. I am not loyal to any of the stylists and my experience is always the same; they do a half arsed trim, always say they'll shape it once dry and then they NEVER do. They have never taken more than 5 minutes cutting my hair. After 3 hours I'm so fed up I just want to get the hell out so never say anything. I'm ready for a (s)wanky salon!

I used to go to Toni and guy and they weren't great, I now go to a local salon which is fab. I think the local ones have to be good as they can't just rely on a fancy name to keep clients
