Please help me choose/find a dress

I need a new dress for the MN a Christmas party. I rarely wear dresses, am much more of a jeans and T shirt girl. Also don't have much money to spend as I'm on maternity leave. I've found two I like, but am open to more suggestions. I'm 5'4", size 8-10 with narrow hips, bit of a post-baby pot belly though. Smallish boobs. Short (elfin crop, sort of) brown hair. So:

dress 1

dress 2

I'll probably need shoes as well, and would like to spend less than £100 all in.

All advice very very welcome :)

That's really nice herbietea, I like the embellished neck. I prefer sleeveless myself, I get very warm (and will probably be sweating lke a loon from nerves, meeting so many MNers). Also, I have quite good arms so I don't mind showing them off Grin

Bump. Going shopping today, so if anyone has any ideas they'd be much appreciated.

I prefer the green one.

I prefer the green one too.
How about a 20's style flapper dress? I think that style would suit you. I'll have a look see if I can find one to link to.

Obviously got the wrong year for flapper dresses, can only find one!!!

flapper

purple one

ruffle

BusyMissIzzy · 05/11/2010 10:34

Thanks. I like that purple Miso one chocoholic, although it might be too tight round my tummy (have a bit of post-baby flab to hide).

I've realised that the Dorothy Perkins one I linked to is online only (I like to try things on) and they've only got it in an 8 or 14. I do like the green one though, will try it on today and see.

Def the DP one.

BusyMissIzzy · 05/11/2010 13:17

Thanks for confusing the situation tethersend, especially since I've realised that the DP one isn't available in my size ConfusedGrin

Def the green one.

I've seen the green WH one on and it was v flattering.

I don't like the DP one. Does that help? Grin

There are some cute inexpensive dresses in Oasis at the moment as well, depending on what style you are after.

Grin tethers

Well, I tried it on in a 10 and it seemed a bit big, but it's a loose, drapey style so hard to tell. But they didn't have an 8 for comparison, so I'll try and find it in an 8 in another branch.
