When and how do you start your Christmas shopping? - can't decide to whether to do straggly bits of online or go full on for a day out with the crowds nearer the big day..

For real presents for other people - a few days before the big event

Things I want to have and try to pass off as presents from DP for Christmas - from September onwards Grin

DarciesmumandTTC2 · 04/11/2010 12:51

I started in June and brought stuff weekly and generally online Grin

TrillianAstra · 04/11/2010 12:53

Straggly bits all the way. I have been looking out for offers and promotions, especially online ones. Here is good, like Groupon etc except sometimes there are online shopping deals that are good for getting presents, I've paid £3 for a £10 coucher for iwantoneofthose.com before.

TrillianAstra · 04/11/2010 12:56

(for the purposes of transparency I should say that I get points if you sign up via that link, you can do www.kgbdeals.com if you'd rather not)

Bought some stuff already (when Argos had 3:2) but wish I'd waited. Some better stuff for DS in ASDA!

dizzydeee · 04/11/2010 13:06

thanks girls! what I want to avoid are those seasonal trinkets which are very seductive to buy, but you find in your presents drawer untouched in Jan..

You need to keep a list - I have bought some hairclips and they are for Susie and Susie has 4 things in the drawer already.... etc

moragbellingham · 04/11/2010 13:18

I've finished.
I got some great bargains but it's not very cost effective as have overbought along the way. I end up saving them for birthdays for DC.

i hav`nt bought a thing yet though i am saving up ..Much more relaxed about it all than i used to be.It will all come right in the endWill mostly be internet shopping then i am free to wander the shops without the stress levels

dizzydeee · 04/11/2010 13:46

interested in the kgb deals

OP posts:
TrillianAstra · 04/11/2010 14:26

There are a few of sites like it - you buy a voucher for something basically, but you pay less. So £3 for a £10 voucher, etc.

Groupon do it too but they are almost always place-specific things (restaurants, leg waxing, etc) whereas the kgb ones are sometimes internet things that anyone can use.

purplepeony · 04/11/2010 14:28

I have done about 90% of mine already.

My plan is always never to go near the shops in November/December unless it's to pick up a tiny item I know I want!

I tend to use the web a lot too- John Lewis, M&S, la senza, Amazon.

dizzydeee · 04/11/2010 14:46

thanks trillian, and purple I am so envious!! I'd better get going.

LadyInPink · 04/11/2010 14:50

I also have bought 90% already. Catalogues don't always have things in stock so i buy early as last year was caught out!
