Long or short boots if you have fat legs?

I do not have shapely kegs or knees in any world. I think my just below the knees boots make my knees look massive. Would ankle boots look better or do I need to cover my awful legs up with the knee high boots?

Long!
Mid calf boots just emphasise the fattest part of your leg.
Ankle boots just cut you off and make you look short and stumpy.
As much as I love all the ankle boots in store at the moment, I resigned myself to wearing nothing but knee highs

trinny and tranny used those stretchy boots to good effect
like this

Mid calf didn't suit me.

I do like my knee high boots but think if my whole leg was covered it would be better.

I love my ankle boots Sad. I am not one to wear dresses or skirts since an ex said I had fat calves and it has stayed with me but I am bored with always wearing trousers and jeans.

I did try on some fabulous ankle boots at M&S. Everyone said they looked good but I could not bring myself ot buy them.
If you are brave enough, buy some and wear them.

I have some gorgeous ankle boots from M & S that I wear loads but they are brown and my leggings are black and my dress is grey. I have blank ankle boots but find the heel too high now. I don't think my flat ankle boots would look right. My legs are awful.

Depends if you think your calves are better than your knees. I think flat ankle boots would not help fat calves - you need at least 1" to tone them up. (Also a more proactive tip, make sure you always walk upstairs on tiptoe.)

My legs are just rubbish full stop though my thighs are okay.

I don't know the best length dress to wear when my legs are not nice as no length seems to look right or I have the wrong footwear. Floor length is fine of course but not practical for running around after the kids.

OK, I think you need to invite your most stylish friend round for a Gok Wan wardrobe overhaul. Second opinion from someone who knows what looks good and doesn't have any hidden agendas - forget what your ex said. I can promise you that stylish friend will be totally flattered and jump at the chanceSmile.

I have nice but cheap granny boots from Stead & Simpson if you like a bit of a goth look by any chance? They are black lace-up with a side buckle but actually zip up on the inside, 1" chunky heel. Kind of a ladylike Doc Martin but more comfy and only £30.

They don't seem to do online shopping, but there's a store locator here.

i think it really comes down to the boots. I have some knee boots that look good and others that look terrible. (going on ebay soon).
i find that if you can get an ankle boot that actually is more like a high shoe - i.e., cuts off just below the ankle, it looks better.
