How to keep hair curly for more then one night???

I bought a curlying wand and its great, my hair is very straight normally so i need to use alot of hairspray to hold it.

It takes me ages to curl my hair so would like it to last more then one night, but it doesn't look great the next morning.

Does anyone else keep their curls in for more then a few days? If so please give me some tips.

Apparently a silk pillow case will help. The slippery quality of the silk means that the hair doesn't get pulled straight when you turn over or move your head in your sleep. An added bonus too, is that it's also supposed to help reduce the onset of wrinkles.

Learn to curl with your GHD's. Browse some videos on Youtube, and GHD have some on their website (though I prefer some of the youtube ones)

You basically clamp, turn 90 or 180 degrees before slowly pulling them through. You get a lovely glossy curl with obviously no frizziness.

I do mine on a Saturday morning, and a Tuesday morning. It lasts all this time though its not quite as bouncy by day 3 and it loosens slightly, but in a good way. It is still curly though or at the very least wavy. I use a bit of dry shampoo in between if needs be so I dont have to do it more than twice a week. If I go out on a Friday night I'll do it then instead of Saturday morming though, of course.

I dont use a lot of product, I put a heat protective serum in when my hair is wet, let it dry naturally and then do it at my convenience, then just bog standard Ellnet hairspray.

Its the only method I've used that lasts till the next wash, and its quite simply because of the heat. So make sure you use a protective spray.

Hmm, that's interesting. Some of my hair is curly some just wavy and the front bits are faily straight. My hairdresser taught me to curl it with GHDs for the straighter bits, lasts 2 or 3 hours if I'm lucky before they just fall out again. Maybe I need more hairspray.

What are GHDs?

I find if I curl my hair using heat when it's already dry (eg using GHDs, heated rollers or a curling wand) the curls drop out by the next morning.

However if I blow dry it into curls using a round brush, or curlers when wet, then it tends to stay right up until the next wash.

Havingkittens is right - the silk pillowcase reduces friction on the hair as you move about during sleep.

My hairdresser told me that another thing you can do is gently tie up your hair with a big soft scrunchie into a loose topknot. Sleep on a silk/satin pillowcase. And next morning, rake through the curls with your fingers or a wide toothed comb and spray it with a bit of setting lotion or hairspray.

i've got naturally curly hair so not sure if its the same thing but i go to bed with my hair in a "pineapple" kind of fashion - i tie it right up in a ponytail on top of my head and that seems to hold the curl longer.

looks shocking tho!

Or the old fashioned approach.... a hairnet! Wink

Is your hair naturally curly? Because if so, you may find some of the tips from the 'curly girl' threads here help.
