Greasy hair - any solutions?

Im looking for some help with my horrid greasy hair!

It is very thick, about shoulder length and its in really bad condition.

I don't do anything to it except wash it, i don't blow dry, streighten or curl it and i don't use any products except shampoo.

I wash it in the bath about twice a week but after a day or so it it really greasy again, its falling out at an alarming rate and its always so lank and plasters itself flat to my head. Blush

I am sick of sticking into a rough bun or pontail so people can see how gross it is.

Does anyone have a hair treatment plan that they use or routine or anything for greasy hair?

check your shampoo ingredients for Sodium Lauryl sulfate

It's a really harsh chemical that strips oil. So your hair may be trying to over replenish?

You can get shampoos without, most supermarkets sell them - usually in their organic range. But still check the ingredients, as some claim to be natural but still have it in.

It might also be an idea to add a light conditioner to it to try and moisturise it if it's dry?

also - you could try the curly girl method?

I have extremely greasy hair& like you I too used to wash it with shampoo&slap it back in a ponytail.
I got advice from a very experienced hair dresser& was advices not to use anything medicated like dandruff stuff. Just lightly condition once a week. I have highlighted hair which has dried it enough to prevent it from being greasy. When it's due for highlights I can tell because I have to wash it more& it becomes limp. Hth

Sadly I too love washing my hair in the bath but have recently made the connection between shampooing in the shower and getting long hair really clean. Still hate showers but a blast of cold at the end is good for the scalp (and the heart!)

Has your hair always been like this though? If not, it could be a symptom of something else eg thyroid, hormone imbalance etc - consider any other irritating things your body might be doing lately.
