Just wondering - how are all those expensive new school shoes bought at the beginning of term holding up?

Just surveying the damage of the first half terms wear and giving them a bit of a clean up.

Ds's were £37 Hush Puppies and now look well owned but are holding their own. They had a very sensible 'rubber bumper' round the toe which seems to have saved them. Why don't all school shoes have that??

Dd's 1&2 both had Clarks (I can't remember but think they were approx £30 each) One not too bad the other pair not looking great tbhHmm

I bet it'll be another £100 after Christmas though for more shoes.

BelligerentGhoul - you paid £5 for a set of insoles ? !!
Blimey - we sell insoles at £1 a pair - good ones which are breathable - and we make a profit on them.
Unfortunately ballet type shoes if too wide when bought and needing an insole do have a tendency to stretch. We'd always recommend that if they don't fit to begin with they are unlikely ever to do so.
They may not be willing to do much now if you bought them for back to school but if they are the sort with a strap a good cobbler should be able to adjust it for you and improve them.

Ds's have clarks's most plain and 'unstitxhed' shoes (it's the stitching that goes, not the leather)

Ds1 - still has the pair I bought in October 2009. Ds2 doing well with September 2010's. Bopth wear their shoes ALL the time, not just for school.

ds1 just doesn't trash shoes - I suspect because he doesn't play with anyone at school Sad

You don't allow scooter riding in expensive shoes, that's how expensive shoes get wrecked. You make them wear asda cheapest trainers for that.
