Starting my wardrobe all over again- help please!

At the moment my clothes are an explosion of Bodenesque flowers, prints, tea dresses etc. I am starting to think that this is a bit twee for a 41 year old.

I have plenty of suits etc. for work (Hobbs and so on) but I really need to start my day-time wardrobe all over again. I have plenty of jeans so what else should I get? I really don't need any more 'fun-loving' tunics!

Starting from scratch- what should I buy? Imagine an unlimited budget (not unlimited, but should have a few £££s from selling all my Boden).

I tend to do lots of mummy-things when not at work (museums, playgroups etc.). Rarely go out any more but it might be nice to have some smarter options.

5'8", size 8-10, pear-shaped. Thanks. :)

Laura Ashley have some lovely stuff in at the minute.Lots on sale at the minute-although think it ends soon.
trousers.

lots of tops.

As you want to start your wardrobe again,I suggest you find out what style of trouser suits you best, then get lots of tops to mix about.Don't go for anything too expensive that is very on trend now,as it will date.Get skinny belts and jewellery to change a look.

I really want to start wearing more dresses but no idea where to start.

Thanks for the advice; I would never have thought of Laura Ashley! Looks like nice stuff.

Have no idea what trousers would suit me. Am pear shaped; I don't know what difference that makes?

Phipps, I would like some new dresses too- nothing flowered, though!:)

Pear shapes should do a trouser that is fitted on the hip, that has "flowing" material that falls from the hip.No pockets on the bum.Wear plain colours on the bottom half with detail on the top half.Wide necked on top to balance out your shape.

I couldn't face any big shops today so just went to Wallis. I got jeans, a dress and leggings for under the dress to wear like tights with knee high boots. Lovely lady helping me in the changing room, snotty woman on the till.
