Itchy tunics

Looking for a short, black, full slip (16"?) to go under wooly tunics . The M&S one gets a terrible trashing in the reviews and the others are just a bit too long. anyone found anything suitable that you don't have to keep extracting from under your armpits?

I'm looking for exactly the same as you with no luck so far. None suitable in Dunnes, nor local dept. store. Was goin to try M&S but you say they get bad reviews?....so the hunt continues....please, someone, help us itchy folk!

hobbittoes · 29/10/2010 17:24

Oh, thank you hobbittoes :)

Can I and I be the only ones to suffer the indignity of needing a........ PETTICOAT!

I obviously can't sleep for thinking about it Grin

What I'm wondering is if the freezer remedy is a once-off deed, or does it need to be done after each wash???
Hopefully that should cure the itch problem, but my other need for a petticoat is because my tunicy/dress is see-through!! So my plan is to go to M&S (despite bad reviews) and try them for myself! Might even go to Debenhams and try a Spanx-y type body thing that might give a slimmer me at the same time...thus killing 2 birds with one stone.

hobbittoes · 30/10/2010 11:52

Right....... have been to M&S and ordered crap16" full slip . Will get back to you.

I did WW but think they would be too long - hence the crap 16" one from M&S.

Eeeekkk....My itchy wool dress is in the freezer!!! Blush Wrapped it up in a plastic bag. So how long should I leave it there??

jamaisjedors · 04/11/2010 11:49

If you are allergic to wool (sounds like you are with the betnovate - do you have eczema ?) I think you need to avoid it at all costs.

I once bought a wool skirt - despite it being lined and me wearing tights, it still itched.

It's the same with cardigans, even over a cotton top they itch, and there's always a teeny bit (end of sleeve, neck) that touches you.

Not worth it imo.

hobbittoes · 04/11/2010 11:50

God I don't know ..... too busy fiddling with my slip from under my armpits gaahhh.

OP posts:
hobbittoes · 04/11/2010 11:52

Do you know my UGG boots make me itch even through my jeans!!

OP posts:
jamaisjedors · 04/11/2010 12:19

I know the feeling. Sheepskin slippers make me itchy through my socks.

Try silk thermal underwear, that's my idea for this year to avoid the cold.

it seems like at the moment every single cardigan/top/jumper/pair of trousers has wool in.

SELL your uggs and your tunic (sorrySad)

hobbittoes · 04/11/2010 18:14

Have you defrosted your dress yet I ?

OP posts:
iwilldothis · 05/11/2010 11:22

Yes, I allowed my dress to thaw out overnight. Grin I won't know if it's been effective yet until I wear it, which I won't be doing until I get a slip to wear underneath so that it's not see-through! Might wear it some day next week if I don't plan to go out anywhere to test the itch factor. So hopefully that's 50% of the problem sorted :)

hobbittoes · 05/11/2010 12:07

Do NOT buy this

OP posts:
iwilldothis · 05/11/2010 12:26

awww, no!
What's wrong with it? Does it ride up your armpits?

hobbittoes · 05/11/2010 13:22

Yup........I think maybe not helped by the fact that it's only 16"...... (not sure where that's measured from Confused

OP posts:
dexter73 · 05/11/2010 13:42

I have this and find it very comfortable. Don't notice I am wearing it.

hobbittoes · 05/11/2010 13:52

Have just measured the 16" slip and i'ts 23" from armpit to hem Confused....what does yours measure dexter?

OP posts:
iwilldothis · 05/11/2010 14:14

Thanks for that link, dexter.... I never thought to look in Next, never knew they did slips! Easier for me to get to a Next than M&S too :)

dexter73 · 05/11/2010 14:18

It is 24" from armpit to hem.
