Ditch or keep?

So ... I lost a bit of weight. About a stone, taking me from size 14/16 to a 12. [hsmile] I have bought a (very) few new clothes and will buy more in the spring.

I have a wardrobe chock-full of clothes that are too big for me ... some look OK but some now look ridiculous.

My dilemma is - should I hang on to the too-big stuff in case I put the weight back on again (I am aware some people have "fat" and "thin" clothes) or would that be admitting defeat in advance and make me actually more likely to put the weight back on again?

ditch the 'fat' clothes. If you dont want to get rid of them completely put them in a suitcase up in the loft.

Buy yourself some new things that fit and flatter your new figure. Well done on the weight loss. Grin

NO
this sends all the wrong messages to your brain..
you have lost the weight, well done you, and it will stay lost and as a reward you must have new capsule wardrobe
i assume you're happier with your new weight?

cruelladepoppins · 28/10/2010 20:26

Thankyou!

Yes AofD, I am delighted with my new weight, it wasn't as hard to lose as I had assumed it would be, I have changed my eating habits and I am quite motivated to keep things the way they are now.

I took a grey suit jacket into work today to wear with a new dress (old meanie!) and was really quite disappointed at how bad it looked - it really drowned me!

ditch ditch ditch

TethHearseEnd · 28/10/2010 20:27

Hmmm. Depends. Do you plan on having any (more) children?

If so, keep them. If not, ditch them.

cruelladepoppins · 28/10/2010 20:34

[hgrin] at thought of more children! Deffo not. Took me 9 years to get round to losing this weight after my youngest was born! I just kindof assumed it would be really hard, wasn't "defined" by my size, my sister is the pretty (and slim!) one, etc.

get rid cruella, really
you have worked hard, got your result, splash out on some key items that make you feel good about your body

I've done exactly this! I ditched all the fat clothes and bought new ones in such tiny sizes!

higgle · 28/10/2010 21:42

Me too! Just ebaying my 14s and 16s this week and feeling very happy my three lovely new winter dresses are 10s - I also have some nice 10s from a couple of years back that I have not worn yet.

Hi there

I was the same went from 14/16 to a 10/12 - baby weight finally gone!!!!

I had kept some pre-baby clothes but went and bought new stuff.

I dutifully packed up all the big clothes and put them in the attic just in case.

Hubby said i should get rid and eventually i did! It felt really good - the weight was finally gone! Plus now they are not there - I have to stay small - it gives me a great incentive to stay to healthy eating plan - with a few (just a few) treats along the way!

Congrats on the weight loss - I am sure you are delighted and feel fab!
