I am in despair of ever finding a bra that is comfortable. I have always had biggish boobs and been a bit overweight, so big back size more than cups. Gradually gone up over the years from 36 B/C to 38C. I always it easy to find bras that fitted and were comfortable, usually good old M&S.

Then had 2 dcs within 2 years Smile and breastfed them both, stopping 6m ago. I had incredibly tender/sensitive breasts all through this time and wore very soft nursing bras, mostly the seamless bravado brand - bliss. My shape has changed and I am more overweight, so have gone up to maybe 40 C/D. I've been measured twice in M&S who weren't that helpful, but said the 2 new bras I selected fitted well. But they are agony. They seem to ride up too high, can't decide if the cups are slightly too big or too small, and the underwires dig right into my armpits. I went back to M&S who said this was because cups were too big, but then said the cups fitted well??

I am so sore after a day at work that I am thinking of wearing the nursing bra tomorrow - but not the best support for now-droopy boobs. Anything with a slight shell would be useful as my nipples are twice the size they used to be since bf and tend to show through thin cups, but don't want padded as I don't want them to look any bigger!

Help, please, before I turn into a mad bra-less woman whose boobs will soon be round her knees...

you are probably not wearing the right size if you say that you have biggish boobs - a c cup is actually quite small unless you are a petite size 10.
I would say you need to go up in cup and down in back. I wore a 36c for years, was a 12/14 at the time, got mesured properly and was only a 32 in back but e cup. I am now a size 16 and after children have only gone up to a 34 in the back but am now a g/h cup.

Go to bravissimo or rigby & Peller. R&P are very expensive, but a couple of times (after BF) I have gone in to get sized-up but then made out that none of their bras were right & bought elsewhere. I also use John Lewis and a little old-fashined department store if I can;t get to bravissimo. You need to find somewhere that measures by sight not tape measure.

I have also discovered (through a lot of trial & error) which styles suit me best as that can also make a difference to fit & comfort. Also certain brands are better for certain shapes. I quite like Freya and panache.

Hi Eeky.I feel your pain! A good bra is essential.Rigby and Pellar are expensive, but worth it I feel.Handwash the bras and they will last years too.Bravissimo is also good, however they start at a D cup,but it would be worth going in beacause you may well be a D cup now.
I became OBSESSED with myself and others having the correct bra after I first went to R&P 10 years ago-the difference a good bra makes to your shape is amazing,it will take pounds off your appearance.
Also,I used to fir post mastectomy patients with temporary prosthesis, and the ammount of people wearing the wrong bra!? So a few tips...
All the support should come from the band around your chest. The straps are there only to hold the cups in place. The straps should not be taking the weight of the breast.
The band should be flat to the skin, and you should only be able to get one finger under the bra. This may feel a little tight at first if you are used to wearing too big bras.
The band should not ride up.
The cup should encase the breast, and give it shape.Your breast should not be just "sitting" at the bottom of the cup,or overflowing out of it.
Try every bra on.Saying "I'm a 34c,so I will always buy 34c",will not work. All makes of bra are different.
Buckle it up to the tightest setting first,as the material stretches over time, you can then go in on the buckle, thus extending its usefull life.
I would recommend even going for a fitting at R&P,it really is worth it.Prima Donna bra from there is about £40,but excellent for everyday use.
Boob shapes are crazy! I recently lost some baby weight. Was 36H,ought new bras, now 32H.Didn't seem to drop cup size at all!
