Boots that you would buy your daughter?

All this fuss about Lelli Kelli got me thinking... for children who need boots (eg, often walking in snow or very wet) which boots would you / have you bought, other than wellies?

My 4yo DD has these they come to mid calf and are quite chunky.

MIL chose/bought them, Dd adores them. I have put some proper laces in them as ribbons a bit of a faff but told her she can have ribbons in for parties etc.

DD doesn't need boots, she mostly lives in wellies.

I took DD1 shoe shopping today- and she fell in love with a pair of vibrant purple ugg-style suede boots with fur on top that the assistant had brought out. I gritted my teeth as she skipped up and down in them and was secretly relieved when the assistant pointed out that they were too loose around her slender ankles.

She was happy to end up with some purple leather shoes instead.

But if she could choose...Shock

I think what turns me off in girls' shoes is the excessive embellishment- heels, excess glitter, love hearts all over, loads of fake fur. Anything that screams "I'm a little WAG".

I'd rather her think "I'm a very smart little girl who is going to achieve world domination/ an oscar/ a Nobel prize by applying myself and not by flashing my bum in skimpy clothes and trogging about in sparkly flashing light fur topped boots"

I'm in a masochistic mood, so will admit to letting 9yo DD choose these as her school shoes. We had already looked in about 5 other shops and I was rapidly losing the will to live, so by the time she finally decided she liked something I just bought them there and then (I hate shopping).

dd (4) had just outgrown these
I loved them and they lasted really well

My problem is my 10 year old DD has size 6 feet so in the teenager/adult zone - anyone any suggestions for flat heeleed boots that still make her look like a 10 year old!

ugg-a-likes from next

8 year old DD has Rocketdog Honeypups - similar to Uggs but with a more moulded sole IYSWIM./ They are £45 at the moment in Jones and go up to size 6 on their website SerendipityAlways.

Thank you both - some good suggestions there! Only good thing is that eventually we'll be able to swap shoes!

CerealOffender · 26/10/2010 21:32

dd always ends up in kickers, all other boots rub and hurt

DD (7) has a pair of these but in a grey colour.

They are lovely, warm, comfy, waterproof, and she thinks they are pretty too.

And in the past she has had childrens Dr Martens, though thats only any good if they can tie the laces!
