Just the style, not necessarily these actual ones

I have a black pair, very similar to these, haven't worn them in years but can't afford new heeled boots to wear with bootcut jeans - are this style ok??

With bootcut jeans the'd be fine just dont wear them with leggings I saw someone today and it looked just wrong.

wishiwerearichgirl · 25/10/2010 23:17

do you need to wear straight/skinny jeans with shoe boots? not that I can afford new ones but I keep seeing really stunning shoeboots and wondering how the hell I'd wear them as m far tooo round for skinny/straight leg jeans

Under jeans, just about ok. Under leggings, total no-no.
That block heel is a bit out of fashion and therefore a bit mumsy looking but OK if you can only see the front bit under jeans.

wishiwerearichgirl · 25/10/2010 23:17

sorry, meant also to say, no no no, no leggings. thanks!

wishiwerearichgirl · 25/10/2010 23:21

That's what I though Eric, but jeans are very long so you just see the front bit really.

I do have some very lovely indeed biker boots but - with bootcut jeans?? I feel a bit frumpy in them unless I'm wearing a skirt or my one leggings/tunic outfit.

Just had a bit of a wardrobe overhaul (well as much as I could afford, so I have a few sad bits left over that ruin the new look, but cash didn't run to an entire new wardrobe) so trying to do the best I can with what I have

Id say akinny jeans with shoeboots as straight might fall into the prim jeans with trying too hard shoes (I know that makes no sense sorry).
I bought some lovely black shoeboots from peacocks and they were £15. Very high with a platform but great for occasional wear. And newlook always have cheapish boots that last well.

AuraofDora · 25/10/2010 23:27

fine under jeans no problem
have seen similar heel shapes in Jones lately

wishiwerearichgirl · 25/10/2010 23:27

Yeah that's what I thought, I could maybe on a very good day, in the right light, get away with straight leg, but skinny? I just don't think I can cut it. skinny ankles, massive thighs, Huge hips, giant tummy, big norks, lardy shoulders. It just doesn't look good. So i should stop lusting after boots i can't afford and couldn't pull off, or wear anywhere!

Wear a longer top with skinnies and if you have dark skinnies and dark boots that have a heel it'll make your legs look slimmer and longer.
I want military biker boots from New look, they are only £27 but Im trying to be good.
Im BF so all I seem to wear are tunics or dresses over leggings and I keep buying shoes to make me feel like Ive got lots of outfits. But think im trying too hard to look cool - quite hard when youve got 4 kids trailing behind you and you look young for your age. (The only time its bad to look young is when you have kids, the comments people think its ok to make!)

GetOrfMoiLand · 25/10/2010 23:36

Vicbar - military biker boots from New Look for £27 - dd looked at these today, we got exact replicas from Pimark for £18.

OP - the boots are a bit ordinary, think they have a mumsy heel.

wishiwerearichgirl · 25/10/2010 23:37

I'm BF too, hence the norks. I don't have many long tops, the one i wear is maternity but you can't tell, although that's one of the reasons I avoid long tops - fear of the dreaded 'how many weeks' question. Plus I'm short (5 ft) so they tend to drown me, esp with the hips. I would LOVE to be able to wear all these knitted dress/tunic tops in the shops now with skinny jeans and my fab biker boots but sadly I would look like the back end of 2 buses.

GetOrfMoiLand - Thanks now have to think of an excuse to get into town tomorrow so DH wont be suspious, we're going away to visit friends and I want to feel nice instead of the fat frump who's 3 sizes bigger than when they last saw me. I have had a baby in between who is still very little but I hate feeling frumpy.

wishiwerearichgirl · 26/10/2010 00:00

GetOrf, they're just similar to some old ones I have already, so just trying to work out if i can get away with wearing them still... Had given up on them really but just spotted these online...

One thing I have learnt is that we never look as bad as we think.
before this pregnancy I was a very toned size 8, I felt great healthy and a little bit sexy. The other day I was trying to buy some running trousers when DH said "you've already got some" to which I said "yes but me arse is now 3 sizes bigger." Later that evening I was stood in front of him whilst he was sat down and he said "do you really think its that much bigger ?"(it is) and he said it doesnt look it and he thinks I look sexier !!!!!
My DH doesnt do compliments and doesnt like 'big' girls. It made me feel nice for a few days till my silly magazine and media frenxied brain tells me Ill only be happy back in an 8.
Im not going to let me dd's believe the skinny is better mantra, healthy is better is soo much better.

vicbar · 26/10/2010 00:04

BTW I would waer the boots with jeans you'll only see the toe and back of the heel.

wishiwerearichgirl · 26/10/2010 00:11

Vicbar, I know, you're right, but it's hard to hold the thought isn't it? I went out with my DH at the weekend, made an effort with my hair, slapped on some makeup, wore the boots (the only heels I can still walk properly in!) but a niceish top and some jewelry and my DH was quite wowed by me! Took me by suprise cos am so used to being covered in sick, traipsing around with kids, travel-bloody-potty-the-mother-of-all accessories, and not even noticing myself in the mirror.

I have kept reminding myself of my DH's reaction all week.

Size 8 you say? I was born a size 14 Envy

vicbar · 26/10/2010 00:22

Seriously the last time my DH said I looked nice (without being asked) was on our wedding day 5 years ago and that was after the best man elbowed him!
I was an 8 but I ran a lot, it's the only way to get time to myself.
I know he's right and he went mad when I said I was going to Weight Watchers and that I didnt need to.
I honestly think we want to be skinny for other woman I only know one man who likes the skinny look and I think thats more about control for him.
Hey ho Im off to Primark to get those bargin boots.

mrmagoo · 26/10/2010 07:46

So what type of heel is in now, then? Just had a squiz at a few websites and there are heels of all types and sizes available, including yours, op. I'm really confused.
