Gothic Chic?!

I am going to a halloween party next week and the theme is gothic. I would really like to go feeling good and not draped in crushed purple velvet and DMs!
Does anyone have any ideas how i can customise this to suit me. I am size 6 and 5"2. I would like something that shows my figure but am not going for a catsuit look!
It is the first time I have been out since splitting up with my partner and am a bit scared at going to a party, i've forgotten what to do!
Any ideas for stylish gothic looks? thank you!

Google the little girl from the Adams family - very cute! Or Winona Ryder character in Edward Scissor Hands. Or go as Edward Scissorhands yourself. Or Bellatrix le Strange.

I usually manage to feel good in crushed purple velvet & DMs! [hgrin]

Slinky black frock, heels, lots of eyeliner & purple or dark red lippy?

soo..very petite.

corset & short skirt (knee-high boots or heels)?

corset and wide leg black trousers (footwear up to you?)?

goth-ballet - vest/ wrap top, net tutu, thick tights or fishnets and pumps?

or like Death from Sandman..skin tight black jeans/leggings, black vest & pumps...

Thanks for ideas, am going to google the characters now. Like the idea of Edward Scissorhands but not sure I'll be able to hold a drink!
Having my hair cut that day so might ask them to backcomb it a bit and go for dark eyes. Thanks ladies

If you make the scissors out of cardboard/tinfoil you should be able to wear them so that they sit 'on top' of your hands as it wear, with a piece of elastic going around your hand to hold them, so that you can still bend your hand to hold a drink!

were not wear - sorry

Another couple of ideas - if you can lay your hands on an old wedding dress, slash it up a bit and buy some cobwebs from a fancy dress shop, you could be Miss Havisham (but before she got all old and wrinkly!).

Or wear a white nightgown, long dark hair worn down, carry a dagger and have some artful blood stains to be Lady Macbeth. Has a certain Gothic charm, maybe? Or just the nightgown and the hair to be a typical gothic-horror novel victim.
