Do you wash your Uniqlo cashmere?

Was going to order a couple of pieces, but website says it is dryclean only, which makes too £££ per wear for me.

Can it go in the machine on a wool wash, or even, I suppose, be hand washed?

Hi Plum. I always put cashmere in the machine on the wool cycle, it comes out fine. I've also heard that you should handwash cashmere with baby shampoo, but I've never bothered.

machine on "handwash" or wool cycle. never do it by hand- it's harder to get the water out without wringing it IMO. MAchine does better. I have a gorgeous cashmere cardi that has fared v well washed this way.

Or you could wash by hand then stick in the machine for a spin cycle only.

I collect vintage cashere ( and like new things too) I was as little as possible, airing between wearings and then use Woolite to handwash. I squeeze out surplus water and ten wrap in a towel to get more out. It then goes on a hanger on the line outside on a nice warm day. It is worth doing this as it gets better, softer and more lovely over time, rather than bobbly and worn out.

Excellent, thanks all. Will get ordering!

My friend has just washed her Uniqlo merino cashmere v-neck in the machine on a 30 deg wash and it has shrunk terribly. Handwash sounds safest.

I wash all my cashmere in the machine ona gentle wool cycle at 30 deg. If it's very special I will put it on a cold wash, or a wash for silks which is gentler than wool cycle.

Hot water makes wool shrink, as can not getting all the water out.

I also use a product for woolens such as Stergene or Waitorse own brand for delicates rather than a bio detergent.

Handwash.
They wash better than the Boden ones, must say.

Don't do what I did and be very careful to cool wash so as to not shrink and then put on the radiator to dry and wonder why it still shrunk. [embarrassed]
