Are Gap jeans generous or smaller fit?

I'm about a 29 inch waist at the moment and wondering whether to order the 28" or the 30" waist in Gap jeans. My topshop jeans are 30" and I have to wear a belt or they fall down, but I don't want a ridiculous muffin top with the 28" if the Gap jeans are on the small side. Thanks.

If they do free returns then order both.

Gap are usually on the larger side, and they have stretch that means that if you don't buy them tight they get very loose after a couple of wears.

(all MNers note correct use of 'loose' - opposite of tight - different to 'lose' - misplace or no longer be in possession of)

Agree with Trillian (re both the buying a bit on the tight side as they give and the grammar! Grin)

The other thing I've noticed about Gap jeans is that the fit can really vary depending on the style. So you might squeeze into one pair of 28" and the other pair might fit fine. What style are you looking at?

I didn't use "lose' instead of "loose" did I? Or do I have terrible terrible baby brain and can't even see it in my post?!

Thanks Trillian and HTSSHWL - I'm after the straight leg. I could order both, but DH kicks up a fuss if he sees too much being spent on the credit card on clothes Grin ... whereas he wouldn't even notice a mere £39 ...

I think Gap are on generous side and they tend to loosen a lot so I'd go for 28".

TrillianSlasher · 21/10/2010 11:59

I know you didn't - I just see 'loose' all the time and it is so very rarely in the context of less tight that I thought I would point it out! Grin

I'm wearing the Real Straight ATM and really like them. Smile.

I'd say size down if anything.

Know what you mean ref DH. Mine keeps going on about my "massive Boden order" without apparantly noticing I'm not wearing anything new and the whole lot's gone back Hmm

lilbreeze · 21/10/2010 12:08

It's free delivery if you spend over £50 (quote UKFREE50 at checkout) and free deliveries so you'd save money by buying more and returning the ones you don't want

TrillianSlasher · 21/10/2010 12:19

I really like the curvy jeans, but they don't make them in the size I want - I want long (to wear with heels) and small (so they don't go baggy when they stretch) and apparently that;s not allowed.

coffeenut · 21/10/2010 12:33

I know the logic lilbreeze, but my DH is like HTSSHWL's DH ... he'll just remember the total sum on the card even though I keep reminding him that I've taken half of it back (it has happened. recently!). I've also just put in a largeish order at warehouse (25% off afterall!)

I'm a convert to straight jeans ... so much more forgiving than skinny but more flattering on me than bootleg.

Def size down - they come up large and then stretch aswell....

(another fan of Gap's Real Straight jeans...)

coffeenut · 21/10/2010 12:37

bah they dont have my size in the dark wash.

Do they ever restock, does anyone know?

Nut are you me in disguse?
was just about to whinge about the dark wash demise.

coffeenut · 21/10/2010 12:45
