Skirt Suit - help - high powered for not too expensive

I have a new job starting very soon and want to get a new suit. I am a lawyer about to move in-house to a multi-national.

My current wardrobe is
1 gerard darel (very nice and good image but not so keen on the skirt)
1 jigsaw (also very nice but no longer suit their stuff post baby and this one was heavily adapted by the tailor)
1 next (no good anymore)

I don't really want to spend more than £250 and prefer to buy in the sales but just want something with a bit of class.

I am a curvy size 16 with a stomach that never really recovered after a c-sec. I only wear skirts and pencil do not suit.

All suggestions gratefully received.

Can you describe your shape more? Then mners with the same bod might be able to advise what works for them.

Eg I am top heavy so I can't do jackets with shoulder pads and skinny trousers

I though jigsaw was supposed to be good for curvy gals

I think you need a personal shopper at a department store who will line them all up for you, because you need to try on loads to find ones that will fit properly. I don't know whether House of Fraser at Monument do personal shopping (for obvious reasons they're reasonably well stocked with suits), or maybe you could try John Lewis.

I swear by Jigsaw, but Hobbs is well worth a try.

I'm reasonably large on top (E) but an hourglass shape. I find the jigsaw skirts aren't flattering anymore. They just give me a huge stomach

I have been through the HoF in Monument many times including the most recent sales without any great success.

I'm 30 and always thought Hobbs was a bit old but I guess it's worth a try.

Thanks for the personal shopper tips. I've always resisted as I don't like being pressured but it sounds easier than finding the wretched things myself!

I think that a personal shopper would suit your precise circumstances as you have a decent budget and you are absolutely determined to buy something - it's just a question of what.
I used to wear Hobbs in my twenties - they're a bit middle aged for casual wear but their suits are great.
Have you tried Laura Ashley, they have a wide range of sizing, decent quality and a promising looking Wool Flannel Flippy skirt and matching jacket ( can't link, on phone).

Every time I come on here I recommend Austin Reed suits for a generous bosom!

I am a GG, and they work for me - I pick carefully, they must have at least 2 buttons, curved seams, one button fairly high to prevent popping out.

Stock from their last sale is almost out, but the current range looks good.

and is it worth a look at trouser suits? I used to wear only skirts, but tried trousers suits and never looked back. They actually hide my tummy better than anything else, and it's much more comfortable to wear trousers on public transport.
