Silk dress while breastfeeding?

hello
I have a wedding to go to and was thinking of wearing a silk dress with buttons down the front that will be easy for breastfeeding.

Is wearing silk with a 1 month old crazy and is wearing a strapless bra feasible. help please - i have no idea what to wear!!

strapless bra feasible
silk dress risky; even just a little drip or bit of dribble would show badly (unless it's patterned?)

but if you really want to wear it just take a cardigan or shawl or something so if you do have a disaster you can hide it Smile

sounds like a disaster waiting to happen tbh! Any leakage/drips will stain silk instantly and be v visible. Strapless bra also sounds uncomfortable as well as impractical, sorry!

Sorry, I agree with the other posters that it doesn't sound like a good plan. You're likely to be pretty engorged still at 1 mo post partum so a strapless bra might not be very comfortable or supportive. Plus any sudden gushes or dribbles won't do the silk any good.

Big shawl def the way to go if you do wear the dress. But, whatever you wear, have a lovely time.

Def No
you will have drips and then stains from drips.
Wear soething patterend and man made!!

Another no - there is no way you won't leak onto the dress, esp as you will be doing the whole getting them out carefully whilst in public to ensure minimum exposure thing. So many opportunities for leakage onto dress.

Is the strapless bra a nursing bra? If not, how will you get your boob out to feed? You don't want to find yourself nipping off somewhere private so that you can feed b/c at one month you will still be feeding often, plus you may find you have to feed to keep baby quiet at crucial moments. The alternative is missing a lot of the day.

Take this from someone who went to a wedding with a 5 day old, in a nursing dress (not silk!) with a nursing bra. I still managed to leak on both sides. :)

Is this your first bf baby? If so, you will still be establishing bf and you are just making your life more complicated

Wear something else. Sorry

geordieminx · 16/10/2010 11:20

What they all said. Grin

Tbh, I wouldn't wear a silk dress if I was going to a wedding with my 3 1/2 year old... Imagine the handprints and snot all over it.

Sorry, but you def need aomething breasfeeding friendly, and a proper bra.

Strapless bra for breast-feeding I would think a bit tricky. Trying to hold your baby and hoick it up and down.
I BF in a cream silk wedding dress no problems and no drips (just fortunate that day) with an Elle McPherson La mere bra. DD was 3 months and pretty used to it all by then though. I knew I'd never be wearing the dress again and was quite accepting of the fact it would probably get trashed.
