Accessories - please share your organisation tips!

I am trying to engineer a massive swap of all my clothes and accessories from a built-in wardrobe and various drawers to a walk-in wardrobe (almost a dressing room... if I put proper lighting in there!).

All my clothes go on hangers (I hate creases) but I don't know how best to organise my accessories. There are five quite deep shelves and two drawers in the walk-in wardrobe. What should I do with my belts? My tights? My scarves? My gloves? Should I put all my swimsuits and beach accessories in a "holiday box"?

All tips gratefully received!

I have soemthing a bit like this and find it useful. This range looks useful too and is far more stylish.

I don't have your beautiful wardrobe though or the lovely things to go in it. Green with envy.

Thanks! That first thing you linked to would be great for tights or socks.

Any ideas for scarves that doesn't involve a slippery pile that will fall on the floor as soon as I touch it?!

Iron, fold, store in box. My MIL does this and she's very good at these things.

I'm not.

I have the wee canvas drawer divider things from ikea, they r useful. But will be interested in any other ideas myself.

latrucha · 15/10/2010 18:58

it's th ikea ones i've got. they're good

You probably need trouser hangers for your scarves. Either that or some sort of tie rack.

traceybath · 15/10/2010 19:12

I use trouser hangers for scarves too.

I have a cork board in my walk in wardrobe with little hooks or sticky out pins pushed into it - I hang all my dress necklaces/ beads from it. Works very well

brimfull · 15/10/2010 19:44

How about this for scarves

I use this for my necklaces

KristinaM · 15/10/2010 19:50

i also use the organiser boxes from Ikea for scarves etc

this Komplement hanger is good for scarves that wont crease

SkippyjonJones · 15/10/2010 19:51

I have no idea but can you have a drawer for me. Your wardrobe is obviously bigger than my house Grin

Lots of great ideas! I hadn't thought about putting hooks on the wall, but that's a great idea. I have a double rail all down one side, but the opposite wall is full of potential... I think I might put a mirror up on it with good lighting above it, and then hang all my necklaces etc to one side of ...

I have a row of hooks inside the door where I hang belts and scarves. Necklaces I keep flat in a clear acrylic chest (I forget about things if I can't see them Blush) because I heard somewhere you can strain them by hanging permanently.

The Holding Company are a good source of organisational stuff.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 15/10/2010 20:01

These are nice for inside wardrobes. And you can get dividers for the drawers.

Speckledeggy · 18/10/2010 22:09

I use these inside my wardrobe for my necklaces.

And one of these for my earrings.

I have lots of people admiring them.

:)

Tootiredforgodtyping · 18/10/2010 22:14

For my necklacees i have a pinboard covered in a pretty fabric propped up on my dressing table with pearl headed pins to hang the necklaces on. They don't ever get tangled up, is great
