Where can I get clothes for ds1?

Ds1 is 5 but quite tall for his age. He needs size 6-7 years. I can not find any clothes either he or I like. The main thing he needs are trousers, but he prefers soft fabrics and an elasticated waist, but now cos of the size he needs I don't seem to be able to fit those requirements apart from boring jogging bottoms.

Ds1 likes stripes and bright colours. I used to get his clothes from Next (no good now he's grown out of the younger boys section), Frugi (don't go big enough now) and sainsbury's. But now Ds1 is in the older boys sizes the clothes are so boring and not particularly comfortable for him to wear.

I have looked at Boden, but didn't like anything enough to pay their prices. So where else can I try. Online would be preferable, Ds1 doesn't shop well!

Tesco does jeans that have elastic waist bands that you just pull up like this. My son was a number of pairs and are comfy and easy to wear. I like H and M too.

i was going to suggest primark, but if he doesn't shop well, then thats a nonstarter unless you go while he's at school. I've always found their trousers to be of good quality and fit, especially for ds, who is also 5 but has the inside leg of a 7 yo and the waist of a 3/4 yo.

I went to buy my son this jacket from zara and popped into primark for a look and they had almost the same thing for £9. And spend the rest on some skinny cords for me...

Zara do some quite nice cords, they were too big for my ds (he's nearly 7 but small!) so might suit yours.
I'd take another look at boden, they do wonderfully soft cords & the tartan baggies are fantastic with a elasticated waist. Very very comfy during winter & warm as toast plus bright! You need the £10 off £30 code and then kids clothes work out a lot cheaper.
Have you had a look at fatface online, joules or maybe seasalt who do lovely bright trousers in summer. Don't know about winter. Tis hard to find bright coloured trousers for boys, I tend to go for bright colours in the tops & jumpers now ds1 is older.

H+M do young boys up to 7-8, usually including comfortable styles, although I confess to not looking recently. Pumkinpatch on line (or something like that) might be worth a look for comfort.

Thank you for all your suggestions. Am off to look at the sites people suggested.

Those that suggested Primark - I have had great sucess there the last few years, but this year the only trousers they had in ds1's size that weren't stiff fabric, with an elasticated waist were synthetic and again a no-no with ds1. I wonder if other Primarks have different stuff to ours.

God he sounds like a right pain in the neck doesn't he!Smile. He's not that bad really, but he knows what he likes and if he doesn't like it he won't wear it (quite happy running around in pants). So I just don't want to waste my money.
