Boden - awash with velvet.

I started off admiring this dress velvet with sparkly circles And then thought I might be better off with a plain dress and a velvet jacket or coat - but there is so much! Does anyone have elegant jacket
velvet party coat
velvet peacoat or
washed velvet coat ?
Of course there is the velvet blazer and the velvet nehru jacket but really my brain won't cope with any more Boden velvet in one go. Basically I want to know if I should splash out on a party coat or jacket to go over my evening dress or if one of the ordinary ones might look just or nearly as special and be a bit more versatile. All velveted out now...

If I had the money I'd go for one of the coats/jackets, they're all lovely. Can dress up any outfit with it, you're more limited with the dress.

higgle · 13/10/2010 11:56

Yes, but the real problem is which one?

How strange, I was just looking at (lusting over) the velvet scarves (but thinking I wouldn't pay £39 for it).

I have the washed velvet coat. Love it.

vintage4 · 13/10/2010 13:55

party coat is not warm but lovely and will make you feel special/Nice velvet dress on the Hush website too or it might be Wrap

I have two Boden washed velvet coats from a few years ago - one rather Doctor Who-ish in a David Tennant stylee - which is always complimented.

This isn't helpful, I realise.

I ordered the party coat last year but sent it back as too fragile to snags and raindrops, according to the labels. My lifestyle involves living in the countryside with a toddler.

I have 2 velvet pencil skirts from this year. They look very versatile = could be evening or work wear- and are machine washable. The ribbon velvet skirt also looks good. As does the velvet party top...

Carrie what colour velvet ribbon skirt do you have? I can't decide whether to get the black or blue.

purplepeony · 14/10/2010 07:35

I have the velvet pea coat in Mouse. I like it but it is not warm- def. not a coat for the snow, despite JB's pics.

it is an autumn piece.

You might like to look at White Stuff coats/jackets- they have velvet too.

vintage4 · 14/10/2010 12:07

Higgle i am the same i have lost 5 stone and was a size 20! it is great isnt it? well done

higgle · 14/10/2010 21:14

congratulations vintage 4 - yes when I went shopping tonight it was lovely to be a 10 and not a 16. Anyway I didn't get velvet but this
which looks much nicer on than the picutre suggests. Anyway the point of this post is to tell you all that Per Una specialize has lovely velvet coats - party style but quite substantial for £130 and this lovely velvet dres, which I would have bought but I couldn't have two! this one
