....where to shop for Boots?

Am going to start at Selfridges but I don't know Oxford St or the surrounding area very well so I could do with knowing which shops I'm aiming for in case I miss an important one out!!!

John Lewis or Selfridges maybe? They are fairly close to each other. Or there's an Office but down the other end iirc.

BelligerentGhoul · 12/10/2010 20:10

Sorry - you said Selfridges. I'd start there, then go to John Lewis then work down to Topshop maybe? But go early because Topshop quickly becomes hell on earth. Oh there's the big M&S just a bit further down from Selfridges in the other direction too.

nameymcnamechange · 12/10/2010 20:11

Every shop you can think of is on Oxford Street.

Selfridges is down at the Marble Arch end.

Most of the grooviest shoe shops are in the middle section (near John Lewis and Oxford Circus Tube). For high end shoe shops, take a detour down Bond Street.

The top end, towards Tottenham Court Road tube, is not really worth bothering with, tbh. It all gets a bit more low-rent up there.

BelligerentGhoul · 12/10/2010 20:12

Yes - past Urban Outfitters, it all gets pretty horrible.

CHOOGIRL · 12/10/2010 20:37

Once you've been to the second floor shoehall in Selfridges you will not want to shop anywhere else for boots. Go to Russell & Bromley BEFORE Selfros so you can see if there is anything you like. R&B is 2 mins away just on the other side of the road to Selfros.

oranges · 12/10/2010 20:38

aldo is great. not john lewis= boring stuffy and the boots fall apart,

sleepwhenidie · 12/10/2010 20:43

Agree with Choogirl - once you are in the new shoe heaven dept in Selfridges all will be lost...hours spent drooling over Louboutins and Manolos (as well as all the high street brands) mean you will be too late to get to any other shop Grin.

berri · 12/10/2010 21:17

Oh thanks so much guys - excited now!!!

There's a very good website which gives you a map of Oxford street with the position of all the shops which I use if I ever need to find an obscure shop and I'm not sure which end it is at! I'm on the phone but I'm sure if you google Oxford street shops map you will find it! Enjoy!

foxinsocks · 12/10/2010 21:31

Ah it's streetsensation.co.Uk and then click on Oxford street (or just google it)!

smellyfeet · 12/10/2010 21:34

The new show galleries in Selfridges is amazing. I was there yesterday :)

Gangle · 12/10/2010 21:36

Best place for shoes of any kind is South Molton Street. Turn left out of Bond Street Tube station. It has Office, Nine West, Jones, Dune and lots of others. Good luck!

Want2bSupermum · 12/10/2010 21:38

If you don't find anything after oxford street there is also fenwicks and the house of frazer on regents street. Fenwicks used to have a very good shoe department.

alicatte · 12/10/2010 21:41

I agree with Gangle, I'd go down South Molton Street and then turn left and walk up to Bond Street and take in Fenwicks too. If you cut across Hanover Square you can get to Liberty on Regent Street and then to Carnaby Street behind it.

But Selfridges is pretty good at the moment. I was there two weeks ago.

berri · 13/10/2010 07:22

That website is excellent too, thanks fox. Right, if I don't find any today I'm destined to spend the winter barefoot.

Deffo stick to the department stores, because they'll have almost all the brands in one place and it's so much quicker to do all your trying on. You probably won't get out of Selfridges, but House of Fraser is also good.

moragbellingham · 13/10/2010 11:08

If you start at Selfridges, then just past Bond St tube go down South Molton St too.
KG, Jones, Pied a Terre, Moda In Pelle, Office and Nine West. Think Bertie may have gone.
