Ok, My face is always a mess, it looks claggy and looks like I need a scrub (i do that everyday :( ).... I need urgent advice, I cant look at myself in the mirror any longer, am gunna start wearing a mask in public!..
Sorry its a long one!!
I have very oily porous skin, few spots, blackheads (nose and cheeks) SERIOUISLY bad dark circles, and fine lines around my eyes..

I use dermalogica clay cleanser, and the medi bac oil control lotion. I always exfoliate, and throughly wash make up off everyday.

Foundation= Estee lauder double wear, Desert Beige..(pale) plus powder when oil starts seeping through..Pores show through really badly and looks cakey.

Concealer= benefit Boi iong , tried soooo many, this is what Im on at the moment, I find it very shiny and greasy, and folds in my lines.. brilliant coverage tho

Wearing a light foundation doesnt work for me and pretty much wears off after 2 hours! I have Estee lauder Pore control,.. slides off when I put foundation on and gives me zits..pretty crap...Im on Revlon colour stay, Ok but gets greasy quickly.
I drink alot of water and dont eat shit.

I have tried nearly every concealer for my DARK DARK circles,, bobby brown makes me look 90 years old enhances my wrinkes, Eclat doesnt give enough coverage. Im now on Benefit Boi ing, I love the coverage, but it looks really greasy and doesnt blend with my face..I cant put powder over, it makes wrinkles look worse, and it looks sooo claggy, My face looks claggy enough anyway, so fed up... Im not naturally beauiful, and will never be seen with out make up.. Even my daughters think Im ill with no make up on... My skin wont 'do' natural looking make up... it all slides off!... I need a face transplant I know... but if anybody out there can tell where Im going wrong, or give me advice I would be soooo grateful... Its getting to the point now where I dont want to leave the house!...

I found castor oil good, although amazingly it sometimes made my skin feel a little too tight afterwards, but it might be exactly what you're after.

nomorebooze · 13/10/2010 10:31

if your looking for the mineral kit its under - Bare Escentuals i.d Get Started Kit Smile

ruddynorah · 13/10/2010 10:37

Oil cleansing here too. No need for fancy products. Olive oil in your kitchen will do.

sausagerolemodel · 13/10/2010 10:47

I got some of this stuff a couple of weeks ago, and it was amazing (and I am not given to sweeping statements about life changing beauty products, honestly).

Its a primer - so a cover-up rather than addressing the underlying skin issue, but it makes my skin look SO much better/smoother/fresher, it really improved my confidence.

Iused Almond oil and castor oil about 80/20 mix.
It was ok to start with but a bit tight after a week or so.

SixtyFootDoll · 13/10/2010 11:08

SRM - like the lok of that primer...

I have similar skin to you, and at 35, have fine lines around my eyes and mouth. I've tried many many different primers and foundations, and virtually all of them turn me into an oily pool, and slide off my face. Mineral foundation powder isn't great for oily skin, in my experience.

I definately think you are over stressing your skin.

I tried the oil cleansing method. Did't work for me, personally.

The best thing for blackheads, honestly, is a good diet. When I stop eating sugar and processed food, my skin clears up a lot.

In the meantime, I use a gentle cleanser ( Avene at the moment ) with a scrublet thingy to gently exfoliate.

Embryollise moisturiser, usually only at night.

Primer, I use the MAC prep and prime spf 50 one. It's very different from the normal MAC Prep and prime one. It literally acts like a glue, but isn't heavy and irritating in my experience. Can't feel it on my face, but holds the foundation on, for hours and hours with little oil break through, which believe me, is a miracle for me!

Foundation, I love Diorskin Nude. It works really well with the primer. Stays on all day, only a little shine. Doesn't work very well without the primer though, and doesn't work with any other primer.

It's a realy light, natural foundation, but even with my horrible skin, makes me look great.

Concealer, I like the Benefit Boing, but prefer the erase and paste.

And a lovely bit of blush, I like the Benefit ones, and the MAC ones.

It is possible to get away with natural lighter make up even if you have crap skin, as long as you use the right combination.

I've read lots of reviews and seen youtube videos, where other people have sang the praises of the Mac prep and prime spf 50, for people with oily skin.

i liked the estee lauder double wear for its great coverage but after a while i go huge lumps on my face that never came to a head, i'm sure the foundation was too blame.

I noticed a big difference in my skin when i changed to liz earles cleanser and bare minerals foundation. Lizs range is very nice but its the cleanser which i think makes a difference, i found i didnt always need to moisturise afterwards because it left my skin so nice.

Less products better i think. Also benefits erase a paste very good for undereyes.

hi.

feel for you! its a mare to feel you look untidy. i kmow how that feels.

what you need is oil cleansing method. add some extra lavender oil to your mix and use grape seed oil instead of olive oil with your castor oil. my skin was like yours but actually worse as i have rosacea too which means bright red on top of oiliness etc. just a mare. oil cleansing method has worked wonders!! skin looks really good and no oiliness or spots. dark circles btter too.

you also need mineral make up as your liqiud foundation wont help your skin.

that stuff changed my life. used to spend half hour applying foundation and concealer only for it to look terrible within the hour.

now it takes me less than 3mins honestly!
and lasts till bedtime and now i have a 14 month old there is no time for touch ups!
not all mineral makeup will work for you. you need one WITHOUT bismuth oxichloride as that stuff is way too shiny.

try lily lolo or the bareminerals Matte. or Inika. they look the most natural.

the above will also save you a massive amount of money! OCM costs a fraction of what i used to used and i now need to moisturiser either. so thats £150 per month saved even if you use expensive organic oils. and mineral makeup costs be about £25 every 6 months.

phew. long. sorry. hope it helps and you starts to glow and feel fresh soon!
x

microdermabrasion is great to treat skin, believe me,mines been to hell and back xxx

Wiggletastic · 13/10/2010 14:22

I would also recommed Liz Earle cleanser or oil cleansing method, both very good for my oily skin but I really couldn't recommend mineral make-up - I tried the Id Escentuals and it just made my pores look a lot more obvious. If you go to a counter they will apply it for you so you can try it without investing in the whole kit which is quite expensive. I have made so many costly make-up/skin care mistakes I tend to just stick with what I know works now.

PoppyAmex · 13/10/2010 21:15

If you decide to go for mineral, try Laura Mercier - much better than Bare ID Escentuals and all her products have so much pigment you only need to use very small amounts, which means it won't cake but it will still give you full coverage.

As someone mentioned, the best thing to hide obvious pores is primer before foundation.

For dark circles try Dermablend; it's used to cover scars and burns so it's seriously heavy duty stuff!

LeopardSkinVampireBat · 14/10/2010 11:20

WoW!!.. I am sooo amazed with the oil cleanse, I used Olive oil last night, today my makeup looks so much better, my pores arent looking too bad, still there tho. Ive just been out to get some castor oil, Im going to stick with it, Im hoping for some positive results!!.. Im going to order a load of samples tomorrow too! thank you for all the tips and advice x

skandi1 · 15/10/2010 11:36

Hi again,

I see a few people are saying no to mineral makeup on the basis it makes pores obvious.

Mineral makeup will only do that if its the shiny stuff with bismuth oxychloride in (a cheap filler used in cosmetics to fill, add shine and gives products a "silky" feel - a by-product of heavy metal extraction...).

That type makes pores obvious and oily skin supershiny which is just a nighmare.

There are plenty of brands without, even Bare Mineral (Bare escentuals ID) do a Matte version without Bismuth Oxychloride.

I hope you find something which makes you feel well groomed!
