Wharping after nose job

Three years ago I had a 'nose job', but the bridge wharped. I'm therefore having another one, which I'm about to book. The surgeon warned that the wharping could happen again - it's a natural thing and nobody's fault, apparently. Has this happened to anyone else?

I'm about to book the second op, but I've been advised to speak to my GP first as I have a raised alk phos level (had blood tests and ultrasound on liver) which could be why my nose wharped. It's all Dutch to me! Confused Doesn't anyone know about this sort of thing, please?

Thanks!

Do you mean that it has started to move back to it's original position?

It's widened and bends slightly. Not the look I was after! The surgeon agreed but said it could be because of the raised alk phos level.

I don't understand...

I don't understand how raised levels could affect the shape of the nose - but I'm not medical at all.

DS has had one 'nose job' and will need another now that he is fully grown. We have been warned that the nose can begin to revert to the original position.

I hope his op goes well.

My friend just PM'd me to say that it's karma for being to vain and spending thousands on a new nose! I think she may be right. Grin

If it makes you feel better about yourself, and you can afford it - go for it!!

I don't personally see how raised liver enzymes could cause that to happen to your nose. However I do know that noses can change shape dramatically post-surgery (which is why the revision rate is so high). IT's usually to do with scar tissue and new cartilige etc growing to 'heal' the area.
So, it could happen again. Go to a good surgeon who has done many revision ops.

The enzyme alkaline phosphatase is found in bone, as well as liver and might be raised in some medical conditions. However, I can't see a straightforward and simple connection between a raised alk phos and a problem with a nose job.

Maybe someone more informed will come along...
