Help!!! I've got a wedding at the end of October and I haven't a clue what to wear. I am 5'11, size 14 (still need to lose a stone post baby), largeish of norkage as still BF, blonde and green eyes. I'm quite hourglass shaped.

Any thoughts?

What is your usual sort of style?

Is it a posh do?

What sort of budget?

saltyseadog · 10/10/2010 19:42

I normally dress quite conservatively and opt for Jigswaw (borin'). Willing to be persuaded to try something more exciting.

Yes - posh do.

£100 as I'm hoping to lose the last stone.

I think this is really pretty. Could wear a pretty cardigan as a cover-up? Some spanx under for that last stone?

Does the dress need to allow bf access?

notyummy · 10/10/2010 19:49

Also this could be flattering with opaques and a jacket.

notyummy · 10/10/2010 19:52

simple but elegant.

notyummy · 10/10/2010 20:00

On trend and v flattering

notyummy · 10/10/2010 20:04

fifties

MissBeehiving · 10/10/2010 20:12

This is fantastically flattering on.

saltyseadog · 10/10/2010 21:47

I'm loving the leopard print . Am I too old at 35 to be wearing it though?

Mint Velvet and fifties dresses also slinksome.

Thank you!

Not at all! I am nearly 39 and just got a leopard skin dress. Also have a blouse. Can be so flattering with simple accesories and black or nude heels.

happilyeverafter · 10/10/2010 21:59

salty I bought the first dress that notyummy linked today. Hemline is bubbley which looks better on.

Sizing seems large though. I'm 5"9 and usually about a 12 but the 10 was ample.

Ceebee74 · 10/10/2010 22:19

OMG complete thread hijack but thank you for that leopard-skin dress...it is exactly what I am looking for for Christmas parties as it will suit my figure (and I am 36 btw Wink)

Do you think it would look ok with bare tanned legs and classy black shoes? Can't really get my head round opaques for a Christmas party Wink

notyummy · 10/10/2010 22:27

Could look ok with bare legs - also with nude fishnets (which look a lot better than they sound btw!)

saltyseadog · 10/10/2010 22:49

It's fabulous isn't it Ceebee? I wants it.

I think I will be wearing it with black opaques, but that is because my legs are like overstuffed sausages at present.

Seadog I ordered the leopard-skin dress yesterday and it should be delivered tomorrow....I will update you on what it looks like. I am slightly shorter than you, also a size 14 with a hourglass shape (but not particularly large norks).

The shoes I was thinking of wearing it with are like these but just plain black (I already have those and tbh, the dress is quite a bit over my budget so I cannot buy new shoes too!)

Not sure about jewellery though - I am rubbish at accessorising!!!

saltyseadog · 11/10/2010 22:33

I'm rubbish at accessorising too.

Those shoes are v.similar to the ones I have, except those are a bit more vampy :o (and mine are a bit more frumpy).

Please do report back. One of my fears that it will be obscenely short and barely cover my ample bum cheeks - hardly a good look for church!

notyummy · 12/10/2010 08:28

Oooh, yes - do tell us what it look like!

Nude shoes could look ok as well.

Ceebee74 · 12/10/2010 20:50

Right, the dress came today. It is a lovely dress but not for me for the following reason....

Firstly, I ordered a size 14 and it looked a bit tent-like once it flared out from under the bust - a bit too triangle-shaped for my liking (whilst I don't want it to cling to my tummy, I don't want it to be quite so flared). I can't order a size 12 though as I struggled to get this dress over my shoulders so there is no way I would get a 12 over them - I have quite broad shoulders.

Secondly, it was too long (Seadog - don't worry at all about it being too short - no chance of that Wink) I am 5ft 8 and my legs are quite long for my height and it was knee length on me - it needed a couple of inches off it so if you are 3 inches taller than me, it will probably be the perfect length for you.

Anyway, it will be going back unfortunately and my search for the perfect Christmas party dress continues......

saltyseadog · 12/10/2010 22:11

Sorry I didn't work out ceebee.

I am broad shouldered too, so not looking like an ideal dress for me unfortunately. Likewise, I need something that isn;t toooo floaty as whilst I have a stone to lose I'm not humongous and do want to enjoy my post-natal shape.

Och well, back to searching on the t'interpipe :).
