Advice needed please. I'm 24 and have a 1 year old and I'm a chunky monkey to say the least at a size 18 with a tummy and massive thighs. What am I meant to be wearing at the moment? I don't want to look like I should be touting for business on street corners but I also don't want to look old before my time so how do I manage that?????

Eh, neither should be your inspiration. You wont know what suits you until you go into the shops and try stuff on. Try Debenhams they have lots of choice in lots of sizes

Depends what style you're into really. Are you a rock chick or a cocktail swigging club lover? Fashion junkie or relaxed and stylish?

Have a look in a few catalogues, check out some shop websites for inspiration. I like this site personally, good for outfit ideas.

p.s. I rofl'd at your thread title

I'm also of the chunky persuasion (size 18-20), and would recommend deciding what suits you, rather than what's in fashion. As Whitethorn says, Debenhams is good for a poke around, as is John Lewis ('The Mothership' as it's known in our house). I tend to go for rather boring basics - well cut black/grey trousers and 3/4 length scoop or v-neck tops - then I add more fashionable stuff to perk it all up, like nice shoes or a cardigan/jacket in a colour that's considered to be fashionable. I use jewellery as a distraction from my wobblier parts - I've built up a collection of startling necklaces, which, I've discovered, those of us who are more generously proportioned can carry off with aplomb.

Given my wobbliness, I want to dress to please myself but also with due consideration for other people who have to look at me - I wouldn't want to offend the eye - so I recommend trying on everything before buying it, and checking for rolls of flesh hanging over waistbands and lumps of back fat, which are best avoided.

And get yourself a good haircut.

I meant 3/4 length sleeved tops, not tops that finish just over my rippling belly!

armi Grin at your consideration for others and them having to look at you. I too don't want to be responsible for scarring anyone with images of my thunder thighs and muffin tops!!

Thanks everyone else. I'm a bit unsure what my style is to be fair, I used to like clothes that accentuated my boobs but after bfing that is a no go area and I would like to wear dresses with boots and tights or leggings, stuff like that.

What kind of dresses are good for skimming tummys? I dont think a bodycon dress is quite right for me somehow Wink
