Recommend hair rollers please

My friend has asked for her birthday at the end of the month for hair rollers - yes I agree a boring present but hey it's what she wants.

Now she likes to have the finer things in life, and buys good quality products.

I have no knowledge of hair rollers, can anyone recommend a particular make/model or what one looks for when purchasing hair rollers.

Does she want heated rollers or regular?

Heated

Roller size is pretty imporant - if she has longer hair she'll want a higher proportion of big rollers. Also, you don't want it to be fiddly to put the rollers or pins away - just need to be able to drop them back onto the heated rods, or pins into a tray or somethign. Other than that, I'm not aware of any makes that are considered 'the best'. I'd just go for nice looking packaging and a well-known brand.

She has mid-length hair i.e. just below the shoulders, but it is very thick.

Like the point about easy to use.

I will go and take a look.

Thank you.

My ultimate rollers are the Babyliss Ceramic flocked ones BUT - the set I use is made up of 2 sets, I'm afraid, a. to get enough larger rollers and b. to have enough "superclips".

The key to the success of these rollers, for me, is the superclips - big butterfly clip things that hold them in place - pins suck. Clips rock.

They are about £25 a set so buy her some and if she's loving them, she can get a 2nd set and make up a hybrid ultimate set.

How about I buy her a set now? With the proviso that if she likes it I buy her the 2nd set for Christmas?

Do you know where I can get them from?

Thank you.

I have the Babyliss ceramic ones and I haven't been able to get it right yet. I take them out and hair looks fantastic and 2 hours later, the effect is gone. Have tried hairspray before, during and after and it doesn't work.

You can get them in Boots. I'm fine with pins but my hair is very thick (fine hairs but very thick-set) so this might make a difference.

Granard are you letting them go cold before you take them out? This will make the curl last longer.

Also I find that using them on just washed and dried hair is best.
