Maybe this should be on a different board, as it's a social issue, but I'm just wondering if this is unique to inner city Dublin, or if it's a global anti-establishment kind of phenomenon. It's definitely reaching the suburbs now here! I saw two girls in pyjamas in a cafe in South Dublin today. Everybody did risk a quick stare, so it's not the norm, but still......

Is this anti-establishment sartorial statement sweeping Britain too....?

Is it a bit like the boden baggies that look like pj's?

FrameyMcFrame - Slutty means slovenly, a slut is a slattern.
(Obviously there is the other meaning but I dont think thats what anyone here is referrring to)

I think I preferred the Velour tracksuit moment. It did at least imply clothes rather than nightwear.

It was in the news a few months ago because a particular Tesco had banned it. One woman gave a quote saying she didn't need to get dolled up to go shopping! Err no, just get dressed.

Pjs - doesn't appeal.

But,

Rollers - fine. If you want your hair to look curly for tonight, when else are you going to have them in, other than throughout the day? Or do I not know the best way of using rollers?

I suppose you could faff about with curling tongs but the heat doesn't do your hair much good.

sunfun - I think the point is that the rollers is The Look. Not a means to an end - it's their chosen style.

Yes, I can see how it all ties together now!

GothMummy · 08/10/2010 22:20

so, WHY?????

is it a left over from student "Pajama Parties?" at nightclubs?

AlpinePony · 09/10/2010 06:40

Friend is a policewoman in an area which serves an extremely "bad neighbourhood". She reckons pyjamas can be worn to the social, the pub, the betting shop and Greggs. If expecting visitors (e.g., the police, social services) pyjama bottoms are optional! ShockShockGrin
