i'm going to venice for a few days starting next weds. temperatures are currently around 19deg. so too warm for my boots.

i can't walk around all day for miles in any shoes without socks/tights without getting blisters (well, except my tevas but they're super ugly) and i don't want to rub my feet raw.

so.. what kind of shoes can i wear with socks which don't look terrible with skirts? i'm thinking maybe converse style with tiny little low rise white cotton socks?

or do i have to wear tights? will it be too hot for tights at 19deg? can i wear tights with converse style pumps?

but i am also a wimp who gets sore feet in almost every shoes i've ever owned and can't bear to spend another holiday almost in tears with worn away feet or in trainers with a skirt looking like an idiot Blush

Ooh my friend has Hush Puppies that she says are like walking in slippers (you would need to wear without tights or socks though or it would indeed look nerdy). Hold on and I will link....

\link{http://www.shoes.co.uk/womens/hush-puppies/flats-ballerinas/brietta-620800601/purple/?source=googlebase\these}. They look awful in the picture they are much better in rl. They also come in a teal blue, black and brown. If you look on Schuh they have different styles but similar design, they also come without the strap.

fluffles · 06/10/2010 14:13

hmm.. they do look comfortable..

but i've had so many shoes that looked comfy and then still rubbed round the edges under my ankle bones Sad

they could be worn with tights though couldn't they? it'd be warm, but maybe as a last resort i could have tights in my bag if they start to rub???

grr... me and bloody shoes, why can't i be like normal people.

I suppose if you got something very natural looking. Or those footie things

FattyArbuckel · 06/10/2010 14:31

Comfortsble shoes dont generally look much cop with skirts - why not go with light trousers?

fluffles · 06/10/2010 14:36

yes, i suppose, i will have to wear trousers.. i just wish i could be one of those women wear a skirt or dress occassionally Sad

maybe i could still take one dress for dinner.. if i try to ensure we don't have to walk far for dinner..

Hmmm, am just the same, fine in summer, sandals really comfy, fine in winter, boots comfy too but when too hot for sandals/too cold for boots then Confused. I also find most shoes rub/ uncomfortable without socks. I'd prob go with the converse & little socks idea. Ok if you a casual dresser anyway.

I always take millions of shoes on holiday. Comfy, just in case, heels for night etc etc, my dh despairs of me. We went to Spain in Feb and flew Ryainair, dh only let me take trainers and one pair of heels and I had to wear the trainers going as they charge you if the case is overweight. I was not a happy bunny, but the weather was rotten so it was ok in the end. Smile
