Exercise / Gym wear help!

androbbob · 05/10/2010 22:31

I need to update my gym wear. A quick scan round the last two classes I have been to and it seems that leggings and vest tops are the way to go. That is fine in itself, but I am a 16-18 and have boobs and a bum, and frankly would look rediculous in that!

So, I need something to replace my ancient leggings and oversize t-shirt.

Where could I get a vest top that is looser fititng and covers the bum? I would wear a tight vest top under it maybe and then an overtop, or is this not the way to go? It is too hot doing aerobic classes in a t-shirt and the rest of the class are young slim things!

Help!!

I've got several M&S vest tops, but they aren't long enough to cover my bottom. I think I'd find that quite restrictive when exercising.

Everyone at my gym, no matter what their size, tend to wear vest tops and leggings of varying sizes. A few of the gym bunny types wear little skirts with their leggings, a look I haven't sported since school. But that might solve your need to cover the bum.

I suspect I am a bit too old to wear a skirt type thingy! I have seen a lady wearing one in the pool - looked out of place.

I need a top that is loose but not baggy! I fear a trip to the shops is in order but I hate that as I then feel fat and frumpy!

I think it comes down to what you feel comfortable in. I would never in a million years wear leggings and a vest as I would feel too self conscious. Would be much more comfy in tracksuit bottoms and t shirt

I tend to get sports stuff from here-have one local to me. This top is nice.

I also like the tank style vests that Nike do.

Sweaty Betty is good too but a bit pricey.

I'm afraid I must also be very un-cool, but I still wear a t-shirt and track suit trousers....

Could try TK Maxx for gym stuff though - are relatively cheap.

I usually buy my gym trousers from Pinapple at debenhams here the fabric is nice and thick to give good coverage but stretches nicely for ease of movement. The waist bands are usually quite wide so hold your tummy in and they are sort of boot cut so they balance out your shape more than trousers which are clinging to your ankles.

For tops I tend to go for some kindof dry fit vest or t-shirt like this although they can be found cheaper in soccor sport and places like that.
