How much would you pay for a cardigan

I've just bought lovely wrap/cardigan from Fenn Wright Manson. It cost £110, which is more than I've ever spent on an item of clothing, but it has been so long since I've seen anything I like so much I just had to get it.

Now, of course, I'm feeling guilty. Is that much money a mad amount to spend on what is effectively a big cardi, or am I just out of touch.

Also, this is on their website, but not in the colour I got it from the shop. Do companies make some items only available in shops?

I have spent £160 on a cashmere cardy from Brora. I love it and wear it alot.

Think it's totally up to you what you spend, as long at it is good quality and will see you through a few years. Personaly I would rather buy one lovely cardie that would last me ages than a couple that are going to shrink up and that I will get no pleasure out of wearing.
For what it's worth I have just spent a similar ammount on an Isabella Oliver cardie which I am waiting to be delivered

FWM clothes are lovely and last forever (I have a black jersey dress of theirs that is over 20 years old and good as new).

I am beginning to think that "expensive" , well made clothes that you love are a good investment as you can, and will, wear them for years.

I have spent around £70 on a cashmere one. I'd go uo to about £80 if I loved something and would wear it to death.

For something that you'll wear a lot, and get a good few years out out, I think it's fine. I'd probably spend about £150 before I got the guilt-in-pit-of-stomach feeling.

Hmmm, about £20 if I really, really liked it!

BarringtonWomble · 05/10/2010 10:31

If it's £100+ it's not a 'cardy' it'll be a 'wrap', or a 'knitted jacket' or a 'fashion piece' or a 'winter classic'..it's all in the wording you see!Wink

Then you don't feel so bad about it being expensive, cos it's not 'just a cardy'.

reptile · 05/10/2010 11:16

I feel a lot better now - I must rememeber that it's a 'wrap'
