Should boots still be worn over jeans?

That's it. Any definitive answers?

Don't think you'll ever get a definitive answer on her but I think it still looks good!

Ripeberry · 03/10/2010 15:53

The whole point of boots (leather at least) is to keep your feet dry and clean. And why get lovely boots and then hide them with jeans that go onto the wet ground and soak up water?

mollyroger · 03/10/2010 15:54

i love 70s style, so I'm going for it.

chanie44 · 03/10/2010 17:11

I've got mid-calf boots for this winter.

DebiTheScot · 03/10/2010 17:15

I hope so, I did it this morning. It's looked good for years so I'd have thought it still looks good.
What I was wondering about is- brown almost knee high boots over black leggings?

dexter73 · 03/10/2010 19:00

I wore that today DebiTheScot as it was so wet today and my brown boots are waterproof (but only cost me £45!).

omnishambles · 03/10/2010 19:02

Yes, as long as the boots are flat

tefal · 03/10/2010 19:06

Bugger, is it wrong to tuck your jeans into wedge boots then?

TheBolter · 03/10/2010 19:07

Agree with omni - I think the consensus this season is flat or low heeled boots over jeans is OK. Preferably mid calf. Chunky biker / riding boots ideal.

omnishambles · 03/10/2010 19:08

Hmm I'd have to see them Wink

tefal · 03/10/2010 19:13

I can't do links omni but I have ordered these:

From dune

when on they slouch more than stay upright - should I return them?

www.dune.co.uk/catalogue/style.asp?r=43&g=41&s=769&y=A10LSU46HBC679H&pc=46

tefal · 03/10/2010 19:13

tetris is the name

snoozathon · 03/10/2010 19:16

1&s=769&y=A10LSU46HBC679H&pc=46 here you go tefal

Think they could go over skinny jeans.

snoozathon · 03/10/2010 19:17

Doh!

here

ebojones · 03/10/2010 19:17

I have just bought some riding boots from Clarks - will def be wearing leggings and skinny jeans tucked in - this is my winter staple look!

omnishambles · 03/10/2010 19:20

Yes if you play down the rest of the outfit so its not too dressy iyswim - slouchy is good.

The Viv pirate boots would be best - I noticed that even M&S had a copy of them. In fact M&S had some very nice limited edition boots recently - I bought 2 different styles Blush

ConnorTraceptive · 03/10/2010 19:20

I agree with TheBolter flat or low heel boots over jeans is fine

snoozathon · 03/10/2010 19:20

I prefer leggings with boots, worn with tunics, denim/checked shirts or big jumpers. I'm sure jeans are still ok though!

tefal · 03/10/2010 19:26

Thankyou both! I like them but have never done the jeans into boots before. Have got straightleg rather than skinny as I am not confident enough for skinny jeans being a size 16! It would definitely be a casual outfit omni.

Do you have a link to the M&S boots?

omnishambles · 03/10/2010 19:33

these are the Viv copys.

I bought these but in brown with a red zip up the back and the other ones have already fallen off the website though I only bought them 3 weeks ago - they are grey old fashioned workman boots - sort of victorian looking with a zip up the side. Like this

tefal · 03/10/2010 19:39

I have also got these on order from Next

www.next.co.uk/shopping/women/shoesandboots/3/3

If you can get the link to work.

goodmanners · 03/10/2010 19:44

i have some brown fly london ones i got following a recommendation on here - when i wear them over jeans i cant fasten them or if i eventually get them fastened thay pull my jeans down so my bum crack appears Shock

tinierclanger · 03/10/2010 20:01

Thank you! My boots are all flat so I think I am safe.

DebiTheScot · 03/10/2010 20:38

so flat mid calf boots are the way forward for with jeans and leggings then is that right?

Mine are like these but brown and longer, maybe a bit less chunky too actually. Pretty much knee length though but tough, I'm not buying new ones!

What about the ankle boots with jeans or leggings tucked in? Like these I quite like that look but wondered if it was a bit teenagery, and if I could do the school run (which is literally a run more often than not!) in them without killing my feet.

piknmix · 03/10/2010 21:47

I'd wear them
