Will people laugh at me?

If I wear a rain hood?

You know, the clear plastic ones traditionally worn by old ladies?

It seems like it could be a very practical item.

Yes

Drusilla · 01/10/2010 20:40

Do you care, though?

KurriKurri · 01/10/2010 20:42

They laughed at me Sad

I don't suppose I do care, really.
I expect they laugh at me anyway.

Kurri - Really? Sad

I haven't got one yet, sooz, but have seen a rather natty polka dot one.

It would be so practical.

don't do it. Get an umbrella.

Unless you're actually 70+ Wink

sfxmum · 01/10/2010 20:54

I was at a bus stop today and counted 5 old ladies wearing them I wandered idly if they are handed out with the bus pass

KurriKurri · 01/10/2010 20:57

Well when I say 'people' I mean my DC and their friends. It does keep you dry, I also have a wheeled shopper - to give you a rough idea of my 'look' (elderly chic Grin)

sfxmum · 01/10/2010 21:01

kurrikurri if you manage to add a fur lined mackintosh and some sturdy shoes you upgrade to posh elderly chic

MrsShrekTheThird · 01/10/2010 21:09

pmsl @ elderly chic

those scary brown lace-ups that they all wear are now in fashion, allegedly Hmm

JaynieB · 01/10/2010 21:10

I'm laughing at the thought of it!

AlistairSim · 01/10/2010 21:22

Jeepers, Kurri.
You and I are fashion twins!

DP says I am a cross between Dot Cotton and Noel Fielding.

Perhaps we could start our own fashion line?

MrsShrekTheThird · 01/10/2010 21:27

cor. spotty rainhood envy Hmm

MrsShrekTheThird · 01/10/2010 21:28

using the word fashion in its broadest sense, obv Grin

tethersend · 01/10/2010 21:51

I wear one.

I live in east London though, so I'm sure everyone thinks I'm being ironic. I'm not.

KurriKurri · 01/10/2010 22:01

Count me in Alistair - I've got a wardrobe full of bon marche fashion statements.

happilyeverafter · 01/10/2010 22:22

I see people wearing barbour type rain hats often, wouldn't look twice at them.

I half debated one last year as walking dog in fields with hood up limits vision massively, brolly not practical when clambering over stiles with DD plus dog and could see why people wear them.

I must add that I don't live in a trendy area where people would dress ironically. Or even know how to dress ironically. Wellies are worn because half the village has no pavements so a little rain and you're trudging through puddles in the gutter! Only thing that stopped me getting one was because we're pretty open/windy where we live and I thought it might blow off.

MrsShrekTheThird · 01/10/2010 22:37

then again, you could Just Get Wet Grin

TheBountyMuncher · 01/10/2010 22:43

Yes they might.
How about this?
stylish AND fashionable apparently

You'll have to wait for new stock though. Sad Wink

JaynieB · 01/10/2010 23:17

(Am laughing)

AlistairSim · 02/10/2010 11:34

Kurri, we could be the new Trinny and Susannah.
We could have our very own topic.

That's very cool BountyMuncher, but perhaps a little bulky. A rain hood is much more snug and almost sexy.

JaynieB, you will be our first make-over, you will look divine. I have some support stockings in your size.
