Do you think these boots are suitable for 9 year olds girls?

I think not, in fact the more I look at them, the more I hate them. They are far too old looking for my 9 year old girls.

Mother in law adores them and wants to buy them for my girls who have equally set their hearts on them. I said thanks but no thanks and mil got in a strop and said she'd buy them anyway!

I think they are horrid, no matter what the age is.
I also don't like girls in high boots, I find high boots only suit grown ups, in general.

FellatioNelson · 02/10/2010 10:27

They are just too 'fashion' for a child that age. And pointed - not good for their feet.

And I agree about the nod to bondage - and being high legged they look ever so slightly unsavoury!

HooNose · 02/10/2010 10:49

I'd certainly want to try them on for myself but I have a bit of a thing about boots Blush.

I am not sure I would want my dd (10) wearing them though. I would have to see them on.

I think your mil is out of order saying she will buy them anyway, against your wishes. What a bitchy thing to do.

FattyArbuckel · 02/10/2010 11:12

Yes mil is ooo as this is very undermining to you. I would refuse to accept the gift. Tell dd you are her mum and you get to decide what is appropriate for her to wear not mil.

cece · 02/10/2010 15:06

Not sure I would say they are tarty but they are horrible.

I wouldn't buy them for my DD but that is because I don't like them.

I think your MIL is out of order to buy them without checking with you first.

But TBH I wouldn't be overly upset if my mil bought them. After all it is just a pair of boots. Those sorts of things get lost very easily you know Wink

purpleduck · 02/10/2010 15:22

Not tarty - just awful.

LIZS · 02/10/2010 15:23

Nasty

4andnotout · 02/10/2010 15:26

They aren't too my personal taste but I wouldn't say they were tarty.

mloo · 02/10/2010 15:47

They scream Bondage or Cowgirl to me.
DD and 9yo friend both drooled at them.
DH wants me to buy a pair, lol.
Not my style at all, though! :)

fluffles · 02/10/2010 15:50

i think they're very adult - the cross between cowboy and biker chick makes me think of dodgy dive bars and pool tables.

wouldn't like them on a 9yr old myself.

BarringtonWomble · 02/10/2010 15:59

They are adult looking but not in a tarty way. I can't see the tarty aspect mentioned at all, but certainly they are awful. They look adult and a bit uninteresting.

I can't see a 9 yr old would want them particularly for that reason, but if she did I'd try to persuade her towards a nicer pair.

meerkate · 02/10/2010 17:11

dreadful. there is no way i would allow my 9 yr old out in these. resist!!!

sandyballs · 04/10/2010 10:38

Thanks for replies. I told my DD's that for the same price as those horrible boots they could have another cheaper nicer pair and a pair of pumps, which seemed to go down well. Just have to tell mother in law now Grin
