Whats the comfiest, longest lasting pair of shoes you have owned?

My mum seems to be building a stock pile of Bacardi, so I want to give her something different for X-mas, this year.

She is always complaining that she has no decent shoes for work. She can only afford cheap ones and so they fall apart quickly.

They need to be flat, black, full shoes and very comfy. She is on her feet all day long.

She's not bothered about style, but I'd like something nice for her.

Hi

Try Clarks. I always find them really comfy and they are pretty good quality too. They have a good website but I don't know how to do links (sorry!)

Ecco.

I only ever wear Ecco, you can get trainery style ones or more shoey styles.

The comfiest shoes I've ever ever had. My Mum buys me a pair every birthday and I wear them every day all day till the next one!

DooinMeSizers · 29/09/2010 16:21

I read a review about Ecco that seemed quite positive, but can't find any UK sites that sell them.

I have found some called Earth shoes these ones. Has anyone ever had these?

Odd, Ecco do have a UK online store- I bought some in the sale from there last year. There are usually small Ecco shops in most biggish UK towns. I'll see if I can find the site.

DooinMeSizers · 29/09/2010 16:26

I've found them now. There are some nice ones on there.

Tell you something- when you slip your feet in a pair, it's better than sex. Grin

I think Picolinos shoes are great, very very soft leather.

I think Clarks are extremely unglamourous and not that good really. Ecco is better.

Any brand you can find that is made in Italy will be a superior fit and cut, and no nasty synthetic linings.

I had some Earth SHoes for ages. Extra comfortable. HAven't been able to find any to replace them though. Am on Sketchers shape-ups at the mo which are also v comfy.

kellestar · 29/09/2010 16:39

hotter shoes are comfy for wide feet. Ecco are also comfy as sin as well.

NorbertDentressangle · 29/09/2010 16:41

My Mum swears by Hotter shoes

DooinMeSizers · 29/09/2010 16:45

She has narrow feet afaik. But she is on her feet from about 7am until around 9pm, 6 days a week. So I want something really comfy and hard wearing for her. She has no real foot complaints, but like I said her shoes are always cheap and they can't be good for her.

Any brand that you can find with made-in-Italy on will most likely have been made in Albania or Vietnam these days unfortunately and will have been glued together in Italy only.
(am in heart of what was once Italian-shoe-making-country, unfortunately no more)
Fly flot are good though.
Hotters have more choice than Ecco and are pretty similar and a bit cheaper.

M and S footglove are very soft, but a bit horrid. (style wise)

Tootiredforgodtyping · 29/09/2010 18:39

hush puppies or campers

champagnesupernova · 29/09/2010 18:46

Riva but I think they have been taken over by someone else now.
They are like footglove but STYLISH

Dr Marten's black lace up shoes, the ones which are slightly glace leather. Think of The Bill - the old intro with the policewoman's legs walking away form the camera. :o

Still wear them for work, same pair for 14 years.

PennyDreadful · 29/09/2010 19:10

I have a pair of black Dr Martens that come up to my knee, they are very comfy and 16 years old Shock

GeekOfTheWeek · 29/09/2010 21:04

I always wears clarks or the sole reviver ones from next.

Montifer · 29/09/2010 21:14

I'm a Clarks shoe fan but found Josef Seibel better comfort-wise for on your feet all day work shoes.
