Where to buy waterproof trousers for a toddler?

I'm a bit fed up of the endless muddy washing of DD's clothes - she's nearly 2 and loves jumping in puddles more than anything in the world (Peppa Pig has a lot to answer for...)

So - I'd like to get some overtrousers for her, but not sure where to look. 'Real' shops, rather than online, would be preferable, only because I'm in London so keen to avoid delivery costs where possible. But websites fine too - just anywhere where I can buy cheapish, plain waterproof trousers, basically. Thanks for any suggestions! Smile

Muddy Puddles!

They're online, machine washable, very durable and last for years.

Second Muddy puddles, just about to buy my 3rd pair (the puddleflex style are so nice). Little trekkers do them and other brands too.

Ah, thanks both! Love the name, so obvious yet perfect. As a stingy tightwad thrifty kind of person, though, I'm slightly balking at paying £18 (ie. including delivery)... Would they last through next winter as well, do you think? DD is 2 at the start of December so should I get age 2-3 and hope they'll last till she's 3.5 (ie. till end of spring 2012 - bloody hell that seems ages away)?

Try ebay - I bought a great muddy puddles rainsuit second hand for dd there.

domesticsluttery · 28/09/2010 15:16

Mine had these when they were toddlers, although I bought them in a locally owned shop for under £10.

Weren't MP doing free p&p this week? I got 2-3 for ds1 and he outgrew them at 6. Fair enough he's not v.tall but they really do last. I liked them because they're very soft and seem comfortable and last unlike some of the cheaper more plasticky-type ones.
Regatta also good. Don't know how much the JoJoMaman ones are but you'll get 10% off with MN + free p&P. Prob. good quality as most of their stuff is.

Effjay · 28/09/2010 16:17

Jojo Maman Bebe do great dungaree type trousers, which give a bit of extra warmth and protection. i've used these for my two, but they are little bit pricey.

Ooh, that's more like it accessorize - if they're going to last 3-4 years then even I can splash out a bit (oh lord, I've just seen what I did there - not intentional but DH - king of cheesy puns - would be proud). Have been on the site and no sign of free p&p sadly, but will definitely investigate further - and look for their stuff on ebay too. Will look at JoJo too - thank you all for great suggestions. I love Mumsnet.

Another vote for Muddy Puddles here!
They really are worth the money as they are properly waterproof (ds can sit in a puddle and nothing soaks through!) and they wash well and seem to last for ages.

I've just got an absolute bargain from a nearly new sale - an age 2-3 muddy puddles all-in-one with the labels still on for £2!!!! I couldn't believe my luck :)

nicolamumof3 · 06/10/2010 09:57

try www.littletreckers.co.uk much cheaper and just as good as muddy puddles. Also jojo fleece lined trousers are lovely for snow btw.

bean612 · 12/10/2010 20:08

Thanks nicola. In fact, I bought some Muddy Puddles ones from ebay for less than a tenner (thanks for the suggestion Habbibu). We tested them out at the seaside this weekend, and they're brilliant! Thanks all.

They've got free p&p on MP until the 18th Oct if anyone interested.

palmermonkey · 03/11/2010 11:02

i know this is a thread from a couple of weeks ago, but i went on the Muddy Puddles site to have a look, and then spotted a muddy puddles ad on another site that says 15% off and free P&P if you used code bonfire until friday...off to take another look i think!

Beesmummy · 08/11/2010 13:57

hippychick do them, although they are around the £20 mark, I have a pair of hand-me-down waterproof dungarees on their third child which are still in great condition despite being worn hard by two boys and a girl... My dd is now in her second year of the fleece lined all in one, which she wore in all that snow last year and never seemed to get as cold as the other kids.
I would also look at www.waterproofworld.co.uk/toddlers.htm and all those websites that do Scandinavian wet weather gear -- they seem to be the best, quality wise. Dd1 has the waders from waterproof world as a present from grandparents - we live by the beach/river and they are the BEST!!! She goes right in up over her knees and never gets wet. I do have to watch her though, worried that she might fall over.
Here is the hippychick link: www.hippychick.com/index.cfm/children/Products.List/category_id/140/subject/hippychick_waterproofs
