Can anyone recommend stylish, flat, chunky-ish boots which fit a slightly wider calf?

Please.

My calves are not particularly large, I'm a dress size 12 if that helps, but knee length boots make them look like they're spilling out over the top.

I quite like these chunky boots from Boden.

I have recently got these from Fat Face

www.fatface.com/footwear/bandele-riding-boot/invt/26090/&bklist=icat,4,shop,womenswear,womensfootwear

I've got big calves and can get into these as the top buckle is adjustable.

Duo for the chunky of calf. Every time.

messylittlemonkey · 28/09/2010 10:42

Thanks :)

I've looked at Duo but don't particularly like any of the styles - they're all a bit classic looking if that makes sense.

I also meant to say that I'm a size 8, by which I mean a 42, and many uk size 8s are only 41 and therfore not always big enough.

I've been holding out for a pair of Fat face boots in the hope there are any discount codes out there. Haven't come across any. Do they usually do any?

Whoremoanall · 28/09/2010 13:20

I have the Boden ones in Brown and really like them. I am slim of calf and have them on the tightest buckle hole. They are not welly like at all as they appear in the pics but more riding boot in style once they are on.

In which case Timberland boots fit the chunkier calf.

scotsgirl23 · 28/09/2010 18:08

Unexpectedly, I bought a pair of kurt geiger boots last week, I have huge calves and they fit. with room to spare in fact.

DMs have some lovely chunky styles, and usually fairly generous in the leg

eg.

messylittlemonkey · 29/09/2010 09:48

Thank you

The DM ones are similar to a pair I currently have which are quite snug on the calf, so I'm going to Ebay them!

what size are they messy??

BooBooGlass · 29/09/2010 09:51

Agree with tall Timberland boots. My pair lasted 4 harsh winters, though the zip has completely buggered now. Waterproof, warm and won't go out of style. I was going to treat myself to some Fly boots this year but after reading that they aren't waterproof I'm going for another pair of these.

messylittlemonkey · 29/09/2010 10:13

theslumbertaker, they're an 8 (42), tan coloured leather, crepe sole, pull on, fur lined - lovely!

Meant to add they're from Boden. Bought them a couple of winters ago, but haven't worn loads. Cost about £160!

oh darn it. i am a 7. otherwise may have taken them off your hands! looking for a new pair of boots myself

messylittlemonkey · 29/09/2010 10:20

Shame. I think they'd def be too big for you.

Anyone else looking for a nice pair of second hand boots, size 8, give me a shout!!

I got the orinoco jazz boots from clarks. Am size 12 with wideish calves too and they fit beautifully. Never bought clarks shoes before so I was a little pessimistic but I like them. Here: www.clarks.co.uk/find/product-is-20341833?cm_mmc=gbase--a--b-_-c

messylittlemonkey · 30/09/2010 13:38

Thanks everyone.

I've looked at the M&S ones and the Clarks ones. All nice and possibilites for me :)

have a look at the Suffolk boot: www.tuffaboots.com

they come in a wide leg variety

ellangirl · 24/09/2011 10:19

I find fatface boots generous, so its maybe worth trying 41 on just in case.

FrenchLimeBlossom · 25/09/2011 16:50

flutey following your link I had a look round on M&S website, popped there today and managed to pick up these which are very comfortable indeed and quite smart.

messy i really recommend them, as I have the chunkiest calves known to man so if they'll fit me they'll fit anyone, they were true to size although the ankle is a little baggy on me oddly, as I have a chunky ankle too.......
