For an adult. Not just flimsy footless tights.

Any recommendations?

Thank you!

marking place too - have seen too many women with legging that you can almost see through.

1988

I bought some from gap that are miles better than m&s, DP etc. Really thick and never go baggy on the knees.

vanillacupcakes · 24/09/2010 09:57

I would say Topshop. They're basic ankle leggings are my favourite - wash really well and are very opaque (don't know if that's the right word but basically aren't see-through at all!) and are £12.

h & m

fizzpops · 24/09/2010 11:39

Thanks I will look into those.

Did leggings even exist in 1988 - I'm sure there was no such thing as lycra? I remember baggy kneed tights with a shudder - perhaps I was shopping in the wrong place even then Grin.

M & S

seconding H&M. Nice and thick and about £8. Better than the topshop ones. And topshop annoyed me by charging £12 for ankle length leggings in the normal range, and £15 for the same pair in "tall" Angry.

moragbellingham · 24/09/2010 16:30

I have the evidence to prove it sadly - 1988 leggings.
I had a lovely pair of Oasis yellow, black, green and white striped onesGrin.

These days, Boden ones are good quality and value esp with codes.

MrsAlwaysRight · 24/09/2010 16:52

I've recently got some from White Stuff. They are quite thick and very comfy.

Faaamily · 24/09/2010 16:55

Topshop extra long only for me.

I've bought from M&S (black ones fade really badly) and Dorothy Perkins (go baggy at knee), but stick with Topshop at the moment. They wash well, don't bobble and don't fade.

Will have a butcher's at the H&M ones. I'm dubious about H&M and quality, but worth a try if they are cheaper than TS.

fizzpops · 24/09/2010 17:21

I have some Boden vouchers but never having had leggings as part of my wardrobe might try some cheaper ones first. There will be nothing on display above mid thigh I promise. I am hoping they will be a warmer alternative to tights.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Has anyone ordered White Company leggings? Wonder what they're like and whether they're full length or 3/4 as they look in the picture here

Bellebelle · 24/09/2010 21:25

American Apparel have the best leggings. Lots of colours, hold their shape really well and last for ages. I recommend them to friends all the time and they all agree how good they are. A bit more expensive, about £18, but worth it.

bunnymother · 24/09/2010 21:28

Definitely American Apparel.
