Weekend in London - where should I shop?

Hello fashionable ladies, DH and I are having a weekend in London, a rare treat these days, and I'll have limited shopping time on Saturday (about 5 hours ish).

I love fashion and having dropped all the baby weight and more, can now wear lots of things I never thought of before (skinny jeans - gasp!)

To really make the most of a Saturday in 'the big smoke', can any of you suggest key pieces I should think about buying for A/W and where they can be found?

I know Saturday on Oxford Street is bound to be hell on wheels but am prepared to go for it if you all think it's worth it!

The tube station nearest our hotel is Green Park, so we're really central to most places I think. It's just so long since I've 'done' big posh London that I really want to get the most out of it. Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks!

I would either go to Selfridges.

Or do Regent St for Cos/Banana/Liberty/Hoss

NOt sure you'll be able t do both on a Saturday afternppn

Great advice from everyone. Would particularly second Marylebone High St - and there's a French Sole in Marylebone Lane round corner. Also Libertys.

Oxford Circus area a nightmare on Sat., though the short bit of Oxford St which contains Selfridges, M and S Marble Arch (which has things rarely found in local branches), and Russell and Bromley just about bearable.

Kings Road is a pleasant environment, though there are only a few shops which are individual and not 'the usual suspects' (Hobbs, L K Bennett, Space NK, etc). I think Marylebone High St has more.

If you're near Green Park it's a v. short bus ride to Harvey Nichols for browsing or grazing. And from there you can quickly reach King's Rd, by bus, or even foot, down Sloane St, which has some good shops for window-shopping.

If you fancy a rest with afternoon tea/scones, good possibilities as well as at Libertys are Harvey Nick's, the Wolseley, and Brown's Hotel - the last two of which are just by Green Park.

Avoid Harrod's at all costs! Like a ghastly, crowded theme park.

Thanks again all, sorry for not responding properly, work really gets in the way of MN'ing Wink
Liberty! Blimey, how could I have overlooked it, even if only to drool. Agree Harrods is pretty ghastly, silly place. Afternoon tea also sounds fab, any excuse for cake.
You've given me some really great advice here so am off to plan a route and dig out sensible shopping shoes.
Thanks lovely fashionistas x

Why go to Sloane Square when you have Bond Street?

I'd start a Marylebone High Street (they have a Comptoir des Cottoniers), book to Selfridges and stop there. Those 2 venues will take up 5 hours, and you still will be rushing. I'd head to Bond Street if you have time.

Yeah Harrods is a bit silly and full of people taking photos last time I went! Definitely agree with Selfridges and Sloane Sq!! There's a great shop in Kings Rd in Chelsea called Mimi that is quite good imo. In Bond Street the shop Browns is great and also Matches in Mayfair and Marylebone (still keeping it fairly central). If you do find yourself in Bond St, Claridges is a great place for afternoon tea! £35 I think it was, for sandwiches, scones and french pasties.

what about King's Road (Sloane Square tube station). You have every shop there and it is not so busy
