I don't understand trousers any more...

Now I'm out of my maternity bubble, I've woken up to a mad mad world. What is it with trousers these days? High on the waist? Low on the crotch? Tight like leggings or ballooning everywhere? And if they are short on the ankle, what do you do with shoes? Let alone winter boots?
I want to buy something new and up-to-date and am clueless where to start. And of course you can't buy tops unless you know what you're pairing them with (is it long tops to cover bums in leggings, or short to show off the latest high waist thing...???) Confused!!

This may be a good place to start. Some suggestions are truly hideous, but most seem quite wearable.

Yes! Thank you. That I can do...

Oh I was just about to start a thread asking for recommendations for a good wearable skinny cigarette pant. I'm 5.9 and the one pair I tried on were too short.

Zara makes really long trousers and Gap recently came out with a collection of... well, black trousers. Not exactly adventurous choices, I realise, but long enough is good enough for me :).
