PacificDogwood · 17/09/2010 16:59

Has anyone bought any of their cashmere stuff? Prices seem too good to be true, so me thinks maybe they are??

Here

and

here

Also has anybody tried washing it? Hand washing or hand wash program on washing machine?

Any experiences gratefully received Smile.

Have had various uniqlo cashmeres in the past, and have always just bunged them in on the wool wash, and they've been fine.....just wish our moths were less hungry...

PacificDogwood · 17/09/2010 21:05

Thank you, booreeve!

Anyone else?

was typing to say, the knits go holey, cashmere or not.

i have even seen stuff on the rail with holes in.

booreeve do the moths get your other knits?

PacificDogwood · 17/09/2010 21:31

Oh no, holes?! Shock

Not good, even at the price Sad...

I haven't had problems with holes but they do get bobbles (does that make sense??) quite quickly

katerum · 17/09/2010 22:09

you could keep your proof of purchase and return anything you found that isnt 'fit for the purpose'

a relative of mine noticed this problem too.

booreeve · 18/09/2010 12:25

Our moths are quite discerning.....cashmere is their favourite but they snack on wool too - grrrrrr!

purplepeony · 18/09/2010 13:55

There is a big discount online today for Uniqlo cash.

The quality is fine- never bought but have seen in store- but the styles are very "conservative"- even the V neck cardis look a bit well, boring.

PacificDogwood · 18/09/2010 14:29

Yes, it is the discount I am after Grin.
And boring is fine as I am likely to wear it until the moths eat it as I am so NOT a fashion icon Wink and middle aged...

Haven't tried Uniqlo cashmere but in general I think the quality of their stuff is pretty good and I would hand wash it (hand wash all my cashmere...never take it to the dry cleaners).
Moths prefer my cashmere to anything else too. Damn those discerning moths Angry.
I'm sure there's a bit of a moth plague going on you know. We have so many of them and every time I mention it to someone they always say that they do too.

It'll take more than cedar hangers!

I keep all of my cashmere in a sealed box now (and the little buggers still manage to get in and nibble a few holes occasionally.

Washing and ironing it all is meant to be good though. The iron kills the eggs.

verysomething · 18/09/2010 17:35

The quality of Uniqlo's stuff is bloody good IMHO... apparently the Japanese are famously finicky consumers so the company has the bar set pretty high...

The moths love my cashmere too, which is why I'm not game to buy pringle and brora even if I could afford them.

Could somebody start a 'which are the best mothballs' thread or does that belong in housekeeping section? [hmm}

PacificDogwood · 21/09/2010 11:00

Thanks, all, I ordered 2 pieces Grin.

We'll see how much the moths will like them...
