currently have dark red hair, was a garnier nutriesse one, had all my hair cut off at the weekend so it is quite short, so I have a plan and the instruments to carry it out.
step one - bleach with very strong powder bleach (doesn't matter too much about condition as is very short)
step two see what colour it comes out, if it is light enough I have a platinum toner (doubt it though), if not I have a pillarbox red to put over the top.
I have done this many times in the past but am paniccing I weill end up with seriously silly hair am going out ion sat so want it nice for then.
If all else fails I could always go and buy the colour that is on already and redye.
What do you think?

Have you bleached it before? If your hair is quite dark it is more likely to go orangey/yellow rather than white blonde.
You need to be careful colouring over bleach too because the hair will be very porous and pillar box red might end up looking pink. Also it will fade more quickly.
It might be worth getting a hairdresser to look at it and give you some advice before you attempt it.
Good Luck!

Mrs Levinson is right - bleach plus red afterwards could end up with crappy pink. Sounds like a hairdresser job if you want platinum blonde.

ta, I did it, it has gone a brililant blond with a white toner over the top, however I am not sure I am keeping it as I don't think it suits me. the pillarbox red is designed to go over bleached hair, i have used it before (in my yoof) and it always comes out fantastic on bleached blond so going to give the b lond a day and then see if it's staying.
