Bought a vertbaudet (that's how they spelt it, I have no idea of the brand) skirt for DD on Ebay. They listed the brand as Boden.

What's that about then? Just a swizz or is it a forrin Boden?

Vertbaudet is cheap'n'cheerful.

Boden is most definitely not.

It's a swizz I'm afraid.

Tippychoocks · 16/09/2010 12:12

That's OK, it was 99p and I couldn't care less about the brand, but I did wonder.

Bit naughty though. Should I mention it grass them up to Ebay do ye reckon?

What was the actual wording in the listing?

Tippychoocks · 16/09/2010 13:21

The listing was fine but I noticed just now as I waa paying that in the description box it said brand: Boden. That's what made me wonder, I wasn't swizzed really cos I didn't notice it before.

Swizzle!

greygirl · 16/09/2010 15:44

kids vertbaudet isn't always cheap and cheerful - a lot of the stuff is similar price to boden, and in a very different style - more stylish, less bright and spotty if you know what i mean.
depends if label is happy privce (cheap end) or not.

Tippychoocks · 16/09/2010 18:11

It said something like okids I think as well as verbaudet. It's nice, a brown cord skirt.

Just cos it's similar to Boden tho doesn't mean that they can say Boden in the brand surely?

OP posts:
greygirl · 16/09/2010 18:22

i think it depends on where it said boden. you are right if the brand said 'boden' then clearly it's not. however a lot of sellers put 'boden m&s next' in the heading so they can be picked up by lots of different searches.
you can give bad feedback to the seller i suppose, not sure what else you can really do.
if you like the skirt, i'd comment in feedback and leave it at that.
or you could contact the seller and ask for refund if you send the skirt back i suppose.

Tippychoocks · 16/09/2010 20:09

I don't mind really, like I said I wasn't under the impression it was Boden when I bought it. Just thought it a bit cheeky Grin

OP posts:
AuldAlliance · 16/09/2010 20:16

okaidi?

Vertbaudet isn't Boden, there is no French equivalent. How could there be? Johnny is uniquely English (and I mean English, not British Wink).
Sounds a bit cheeky, but also as if the person was giving kind of "equivalent" type info, maybe? Not passing it off as Boden/Okaidi, but saying it was a bit like those brands.

Tippychoocks · 16/09/2010 20:21

Nope, in the info box it said brand:Boden, size:4-5 etc etc. Not just saying similar in the title as many of them do.

Maybe it was a genuine mistake. Shall I email and ask her Grin?

OP posts:
PaulineCampbellJones · 17/09/2010 11:10

I would yes, it's sold under false pretence otherwise.

jamaisjedors · 17/09/2010 11:15

I think a lot of people do this.

I was sold some "brio" trains and tracks, possibly some of it was brio, but the trains were definitely tesco.

I don't mind if people put "brio-like" because when I was looking for wooden train tracks that was a useful shortcut.

But I think it's dishonest particularly on clothing.

flowerybeanbag · 17/09/2010 11:21

I just returning something because of this. It's actually not a bad item but in principle I didn't want to give my money to someone who blatantly claimed something was one brand when it was another one entirely.

flowerybeanbag · 17/09/2010 11:21

I just returned

CaptainNancy · 17/09/2010 11:22

If she was listing a lot of stuff, its easy to forget to change one of the info boxes!
Did it say okids/vertbaudet in listing? Tbh if it said one brand in description a nd another in infobox I would have emailed to check before bidding.
If auction only stated boden, no mention of vertbaudet, I would email the seller to raise the issue- most likely it is a genuine error.
If they're snippy, I would leave feedback, positive if you're keeping the item, but 1 star for 'item as described', and mention item was not boden as stated, but nice item, or something similar.

Well it came today and despite being listed as being in perfect used condition, it has holes in! So I emailed the seller and asked, out of interest, why they listed the brand as Boden. Not that it makes any difference to the holes either but I really want to know now!

What was the outcome then Tippy?
