I'm going to a wedding on Saturday. I am beyond skint so have to make do with something I already own or can borrow.

Wedding is a late afternoon service and reception at a country house hotel.

Option 1.

This Pearl Lowe @ Peacocks dress with a red cardie and red patent dolly shoes. Hair down and wavy with a flower in. Red lippy and pin-up style liquid liner eyes.

Or

Option 2.

This Trinny & Susannah vintage style dress with same shoes as above. Hair wavy and pinned up to show off the neckline.

I'm a size 14 with long dark hair. My usual style is (wannabe) retro/vintage/pin-up.

Help me decide? Or are they both woeful (in which case I'll be going wearing just the flower in my hair Grin)

I think either would look fab and suspect you always look amazing Bunny Grin

So thats helpful Wink

OK - I'll go for number one.

deepdarkwood · 16/09/2010 09:49

Much prefer one.

HerHonesty · 16/09/2010 09:57

i dont like either , sorry.

CMOTdibbler · 16/09/2010 10:05

Number one for me !

BunnyLebowski · 16/09/2010 10:06

If only that were true tracey Grin. Thank you Smile.

I'm leaning towards Number.1 as well. Have just tried them both on and it looks lovely. The skirt is really quite full so I'm going to see if I can borrow a white 50's style petticoat to go underneath for that full on pin-up vibe.

Dress no.2 is much less 'me'. I borrowed it from a friend. It is lovely on her but slightly too big on me and makes me feel a bit like Miss Jones from Rising Damp.

Decision made. Thanks ladies Grin.

Number One definitely

Number Two definitely not.

hth Smile

notyummy · 16/09/2010 10:26

Yep, number one much nice IMHO.

Number two harder to pull off without looking frumpy (unless you are tall, slimmish (not big boobs) and generally gorgeous.) Of course that could very well be you!

BunnyLebowski · 16/09/2010 10:29

Oh no I most certainly do not fit that description notyummy! At 5'4, curvy with big boobs and only occasionally gorgeous, definitely not!

Thanks again all Smile.

One more piece of advice needed if anyone's awake.....pretty please?? Smile

With the red shoes and red cardie I don't want to look too themed so am planning wearing this hair flower and <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=3.bp.blogspot.com/_-3hR3LH9DEw/S3GfAmNx97I/AAAAAAAAAJE/MBG0Qfx50Ks/s400/Picture%2B1.png&imgrefurl=anothercardboardcutout.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html&usg=__kNthL2HRQPFO7dmGDXkiCiq_YHc=&h=319&w=344&sz=56&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=PIOX-iiBME-ytM:&tbnh=140&tbnw=151&prev=/images%3Fq%3Daccessorize%2Bbird%2Blove%2Bnecklace%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff%26biw%3D1680%26bih%3D905%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=rc&dur=262&ei=I--TTOHPMNq5jAfhyfWaBQ&oei=I--TTOHPMNq5jAfhyfWaBQ&esq=1&page=1&ndsp=46&ved=1t:429,r:4,s:0&tx=90&ty=62" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">my favourite necklace

Sound ok or is there too much going on?

Alternative necklace is a silver name necklace a la Carrie Bradshaw.

tethersend · 17/09/2010 23:51

Too much going on IMO- I wouldn't wear a necklace at all. The flower is enough; you will look more authentic 50s pin-up without one Smile

kittya · 17/09/2010 23:53

I think number one with your favourite necklace. I love Peacocks and I wish mine would do the Pearl Lowe range. You will look great, I love red.

MollysChambers · 17/09/2010 23:53

Sounds fab to me!

BunnyLebowski · 17/09/2010 23:55

Received and understood tethers Grin

I'm all excited now for tomorrow (even though I'm driving Sad).

DP's suit (to be worn with cons a la David Tennant) is pressed and ready

DD is wearing a rather girlie purple party dress (that my mum bought her) with some mad stripy tights and her purple patent docs Grin.

kittya It's only available in very limited stores. Online is your best bet. The sizes are very true, possible even a wee bit generous.

I got my dress in their online sale for £15. Originally it was £35 Shock Grin.

they are great, arent they? I have a very small one at the top of my street and I often get a bargain there. Their boots are great this year.
