Footwear for pregnancy swollen feet?

MorrisZapp · 15/09/2010 15:34

My feet have swollen up so much that I can only wear Birkenstocks just now (37 weeks pg).

I went to buy some slippers yesterday but even the biggest, softest ones nipped my feet.

I'm worried now, as if I go overdue I may still be here in 5/6 weeks time and it'll be too cold to wear Birkies.

I can't wear any socks at all as they leave a horrible deep imprint on my legs.

Anybody had similar? What did you do?

I had to buy some of those horrible uggs'type boots as it was very cold (-). May be too warm for you? www.uggaustralia.com/ProductDetails.aspx?gID=w&productID=5803&model=Bailey%20Button but much cheaper ones from italia.
Some birkenstocks cloggs? www.birkenstockusa.com/products/women/clogs/boston/hunter-black-leather/86046

Thanks mamaloco. Uggs are so not my style, but I'm beginning to think I may have no option - I'd buy cheap copies, obviously!

They do look tempting, in a 'soft as a pillow' way :)

DS was due in December and born toward the end of November. My feet were enormous - I wore adjustable sandals at the widest level. I would have thought my feet would have been cold but I think I had my own heating system as they never were Grin.

I would wait until your birkinstocks are definitely too chilly and then get something else

I sympathise, mine were very very swollen and I could only get my birkies on after having the baby, and still am wearing them 7 months on, can't get anything as comfortable, I did wear flip flops in the winter too - wasn't going anywhere though as was stuck indoors, but still found my feet were roasting even if I did venture out.
Maybe, PF FLyers might do you, I found them to be comfortable bnut mine don't fit me anymore HTH

Good point noah, also I could pop off early and have lovely normal feet again soon.

I'm getting to big now for most of my maternity clothes too, but resent paying for new ones when I may only have days left to go! I think I will suffer and improvise.

CROCS Grin

MorrisZapp · 15/09/2010 17:20

Oh god yes, crocs. I never thought of that.

How much are crocs? Are the fake ones any good?

Anybody know about sizing? I would buy them on ebay I think.

Honestly, my feet couldn't look any uglier so attractiveness is not an issue.

Primark and New Look both do wide fit ballet pumps, I bought some very low cut ones from primark at the end of my pregnancy.
