and, what do you wear to hide them?

Yep, I wear them on long haul flights. I usually disguise them with wide leg trousers as they are comfy to wear and make getting the stockings (mine are the ones that look like pop socks) on and off easy.

tulpe · 15/09/2010 07:22

Me too. In fact i even wear them on flights arou d the 3 hour mark too as my legs swell considerably during flights. Wear them beneath wide leg yoga trousers.

Ragwort · 15/09/2010 07:26

Yes - PLEASE wear them - I suffered a DVT on a flight and recovery took over six months. You can die from a DVT so who cares what you look like on a flight anyway.

BeenBeta · 15/09/2010 07:35

Yes on long haul. DW does too. Wear trousers.

kittya · 15/09/2010 12:38

Thanks, I wish I could get away with wearing my pajama bottoms!

On long flights, esp overnight, could you perhaps change into pyjama/yoga bottoms on board?

I know I've done that on an overnight flight from NY once and travelling to NZ. No one bothered at all. I just freshened up and changed out of them before we landed.

Definitely worth it to be safe and comfortable I reckon.

chardom · 15/09/2010 14:48

I wear them as I had a DVT when I had my DS 12 years ago. Usually wear linen trousers over mine with a drawstring waist so I'm nice and comfy. Do't forget to keep moving your feet and ankles up and down and round and round to keep your circulation moving!

kittya · 15/09/2010 23:02

goodness me, I was planning on knocking myself out!!

I have bought them, cant beleive how expensive they were. I think I will have to wear boots and take them off when I get on. I hate long flights with a passion.

Yes, I always wear them, even on short flights.

kittya · 16/09/2010 23:42

do you put them on before you leave for the airport?

OP posts:
FindingMyMojo · 17/09/2010 17:06

yes - I put them on on the plane usually or in the loos just before I get on. I tend to wear trousers/jeans on planes.

trice · 17/09/2010 17:20

I put them on on the plane, and take them off when we land. Mine are black so look like regular socks or tights anyway.

cyb · 17/09/2010 17:22

I didn;t, found them too restricting, just made sure I moved around and exercised my calves

kittya · 17/09/2010 17:43

they would be quite difficult to put on in the plane toilets wouldnt they? I was thinking of putting them on at home!

I change into them and trakky bums / yoga pants in the loos by the departure lounge. Then I take them off and change back into whatever I was wearing just before landing. That way I am comfy as soon as I get on the plane (or as comfy as you can be in cattle class on a long haul.....).
