Looking for a gold (or more realistically gold plated!) necklace for my birthday, budget about £100 to wear for casual every day. Where would you go?

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 14/09/2010 08:51

i.e. I quite like this, does anyone know any other designers like that

I'd go somewhere like Etsy, or another craft/design website and get something handmade and amazing.

Or maybe ebay. Lots of designers sell jewellery on there.

I certainly wouldn't go to Argos or an online supermarket - you'd end up with something really dull.

love alex monroe - and may have dropped enough hints to OH that i'd quite like one for my next birthday!

also - if you can go slightly over £100 what about an ethical fair trade gold necklace from fifi bijoux? i think a few places stock them online, like fashion conscience.

PlumSykes · 14/09/2010 11:59

Some nice ones at Red Direct

bethjeff · 14/09/2010 12:48

I wouldnt recommend buying anything gold right now.

The price is sky high... a chain that cost £35 retail is now selling for £90.

So I'd save your money till it evens out a bit and get some nice costume jewellery for the time being.

Cappster · 14/09/2010 12:57

I agree with CuppaTeaJanice

why spend £100 on a bog-standard necklace when you could get several beautiful handmade ones for that

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 14/09/2010 12:59

ok I think I've explained myself wrong, what I am looking for is something like the Alex Monroe piece I linked to i.e. costume jewellery in a gold colour rather than an actual gold necklace IYSWIM. I will check out etsy and ebay.

TEEJ and Plum thanks for your recommendations as well.
